    10 Ball Pool Rules

It's to prevent crap safeties in the same way called shot prevents crap made balls. Not a big fan of that either but I can see the appeal of that rule. If you think about it, why should an accidental safe be any better to do than an accidental made ball like in APA? I am 50/50 on that rule...

Am I on a FargoRate island in Mississippi?

Seems like Fargo even in a fairly isolated area (although 60 is a decently large group), is still correct when brought out to the rest of the country for comparison. Now if you had like 4 players, that would be a different story. Out of maybe 20 people there should be enough variance in skill...

Pool items you think of that won’t ever be made

A small cue you can attach to your penis to shoot with. Wood shaft only of course.

    10 Ball Pool Rules

He wanted to make 9 ball a called shot game, not sure about 10 ball. There were some 9 ball events that were done with his rules. Not just called shot but also called safe, if you missed the player can give the shot back. Some of the players forgot a bit about the rules when they were told...

    Heading to Louisville...

Glad this thread came up, I will be in that same area in sometime this year for work and saved me the trouble of posting the same question

    Improved ball marker

I don't think there should be so much material in the marker, it makes placing it near other balls troublesome. Like a too thick rack used for straight pool. I would like a small curve of metal with a handle sticking out to be able to grab it. Say for working around a template rack where...

Need to estabish a legit fargo for myself. How do I do that if all I have is 3 sessions of APA data?

I would say 80% of players think they are better than their Fargo rating. It comes from the fact that most players remember when they play well much more than when they play badly and if they remember playing badly they dismiss it as "a dumb shot I should have made, so it does not really count...

    Another Farorate thread

If you want to compete, need to stay sharp. His rating will adjust. How do you know he is a 450? If he is a 450 then he is a 450 in Fargo. If you just feel he should be a 450 that is not good enough. Or are you saying he was a 450 and went up 100 points through movement of everyone he is...

    10 ball and i am calling.....safe

That is an interesting thought, pretty much the same thing as playing a push out. You are just calculating the highest chance of a good outcome for you with everything you know about the player and the table you are on. In this case, you are hoping the player goes for the shot and messes up.

    FargoRate Question

I think part of the reason they charge the fee is to try to keep cheating the rating down a bit. If you need to pay to use it, it is not quite as simple to just add a bunch of fake or made up scores to the system.

Tip Contact Location Difference between 9-Ball and 14.1

Try something else. If you look at the data and turns out you miss 75% of shots that show up as 10 mph or that you are hitting the cueball off center and causing random curve or object ball throw, you can work on those specific things. Without specific data points, you may just know you missed...

    Socks policy

Women must enter the arena 3 paces behind the men. Rows 1-2 in the audience seating area will be reserved for those with 4+ Rolls Royces and at least 3 wives or 1 wife and 5 concubines.

APA rule check and a warning

I don't think I have ever in person seen someone take a game for a player not marking their pocket vs just calling it. But in all those cases the players ask the other if they are just calling it. I feel the ones that will make a stink about it are the ones that are themselves most likely to...

BCA or APA for League Play

BCA or USAPL are the best leagues for rules and players by far that I have seen or been part of. Less sandbagging as well. In terms of leagues overall from a lot of play locally, travel to other areas and hearing stories from other players, I would rank APA as my least favorite by a good...

    Seal a CF Shaft

It was just weirdly smooth, almost like I could not feel the shaft glide through. A bit like picking up something when your hand is asleep, you know you are holding it, but can't feel it and it feels clumsy. I missed the feed-back of the slight friction, with the wax it was just odd feeling.

Vintage brunswick and vaula cue ID.

48 inches means they were built for bars or other areas with a wall too close to a table. Not worth much here, I doubt more than $10 each for the Vuala, maybe $20 for the Brunswick if the wood is nice, but you probably can't build a conversion with that short of a cue easily, which is where a...

Some evidence of what I have long suspected about Fargorating

Case closed on what? If you don't try your Fargo will be lower? Yes it will be. Same for EVERY handicap system. How can anyone know your mental state and effort in playing? Only thing any system will see if the results, not reasons for those results.

    Dumbest tournament rule ever???

Yes there is a rule where you can't wait too long to lag with your opponent as you can judge how their speed was and hit yours to possibly do better. The lag has a few rules that many people are not aware of, I end up explaining them to league players, etc... quite often.
