    Mika V De Luna Controversy....

That’s a terrible rule. The burden shouldn’t be on the ref to stop the player and ask for clarification. Is that WPA?

    Mika V De Luna Controversy....

Hmm? It wouldn’t have been a foul to not call the 9, it just would have been end of inning.

    Mika V De Luna Controversy....

I don’t think a foul was called, but it’s hard to hear what the ref said. If anything he would have said something like “you didn’t call the 9.” The World Billiard TV YouTube channel posted a clip of just the incident:

Cue Tip Contact Myth-Busting Truths in Super Slow Motion

On the 1-ball shot you can just rest the cue on the rail, which ensures the cue angle remains the same.

Cue Tip Contact Myth-Busting Truths in Super Slow Motion

I personally don’t have a hard tip playing cue but yeah, I’d like to see that comparison too. What had surprised me is how effectively I could draw the ball with a phenolic tip in that long-draw test. This one is a better test for what I thought would happen in that last one, because you can’t...

    Las Vegas Open 10-ball

I don’t think it’s really fair to generalize about a country’s players. SVB always kind of has a frustrated demeanor at the table. It’s true that “Kentucky Fats” Woodward wasn’t playing great. But Tyler has been playing in all these events and seems really focused as usual. And several other...

Cue Tip Contact Myth-Busting Truths in Super Slow Motion

Here’s a Dr.Dave-like test that might give some support for the soft-tip-believers. It puts speed and draw in competition. If a soft tip can get more grip, it should perform better on this test than the phenolic tip, and in my testing it does. The cue ball and object ball are always one diamond...

Fargo Ratings Keep Rising: Improvement or System Correction?

I doubt that will ever be possible, except just in a relative way, i.e., player x was the fifth highest-rated player in one time period, and player y was the fifth highest-rated player in another.

    pool-hall-massacre

No kidding. And crime is about half of what it used to be (in the US) compared to 50 years ago, and probably 1% of what it was centuries ago. 🤷‍♂️

    Eurotour Tallinn 18-20 february.

I just saw the interview with him on Doggin’ It, and he said his father owned a pool hall in Syria! Apparently he played as a child, then moved to Turkey and wanted to play more, so crossed… surreptitiously… into Germany. I think there’s a lot more to the story, but that’s what I got out of it.

Cue Tip Contact Myth-Busting Truths in Super Slow Motion

It’s really hard to tell how low players are hitting because so many people line up and then when they hit either raise or lower their tip. I see a lot of players aim with their tip rubbing the table for a draw shot, but I seriously doubt they are hitting that low.

Fargo Ratings Keep Rising: Improvement or System Correction?

I don’t think the absolute numbers mean anything. If that’s true, it’s just an artifact and any rise can’t be interpreted as meaning anything at all. Hopefully @mikepage will chime in.

Cue Tip Contact Myth-Busting Truths in Super Slow Motion

I was afraid I would miscue and pop the ball up into my ceiling when I tried the draw with my BK Rush, but nope. It was much easier for me than with the soft tip. Next time I get a new tip I’m going to get a hard tip. I’ve been using Kamui med, and right now I’m using a Kamui soft. Does anyone...

Cue Tip Contact Myth-Busting Truths in Super Slow Motion

I don’t understand this. His test could go either way. I tried it and I got the same path off the rails with my phenolic break cue as my soft-tipped playing cue. If I got more angle off the rail with the soft tip than with the hard, it would have shown that soft tips get more english. Pretty...

Cue Tip Contact Myth-Busting Truths in Super Slow Motion

I didn’t make a video, but I tried this shot with two cues: Playing cue, 11.8mm Pechauer carbon fiber shaft with Kamui soft tip Break cue, BK rush with 12.9 carbon fiber shaft with standard Predator “BK hybrid” break tip (I think phenolic?) I was surprised and found the break cue much easier...
