Soft hitting custom cue maker cues?

Agree with all, I mentioned the tip and pad. A softer ferrule material would be Juma for starters.

    any really tall pro players?

Jerry Slivka was either 6'5" or 6'6" I believe.

I know this been ask before about one piece cue? But who got a one piece cue hidden away in a Bar or Pool Room?

The last well-known American player, regular pocket pool to use a one-piece cue was Pat Fleming.

Soft hitting custom cue maker cues?

Just take whatever you have, and put an Elkmaster tip with fiber pad on it, and it'll be the softest hitting cue you've ever had.

    Shadiest Pool Hall

I went to Golden Cue in the mid-70s myself, and had no trouble. But I went during the day. You wouldn't catch me there at night.

    Collectable Wood shafts?

Agree with that. I would also add that if you have early Joss, Scruggs, or other well-known makers shafts that are straight and not too thin, those are collectible too. Part of the reason is these good shafts were made before the release of The Color of Money, which made demand for maple so...

    Shadiest Pool Hall

My vote goes to Golden Cue, Bladensburg, Maryland. Don't know if it's still open. Maybe @Black-Balled remembers it.

CALLING ALL CUE DETECTIVES… ID NEEDED!!!

Yeah, it's not a JossWest. And I have my doubts on some pictures above as well.

I don't think it's good enough to be a Verl Horn. His workmanship was very good.

CALLING ALL CUE DETECTIVES… ID NEEDED!!!

Again, not to doubt anyone, but that's not Bill's JossWest joint ring collar, even in his first brochure. And the bumper doesn't look right. He would recess it more than that. Not doubting anyone... http://www.josswest.net/tulsa.html

CALLING ALL CUE DETECTIVES… ID NEEDED!!!

No hurry here. I thought Bill started with the 5/16 X 14 thread pin when he went on his own. Maybe he did a few with 18 thread. Anybody think the OP's is a JossWest?

CALLING ALL CUE DETECTIVES… ID NEEDED!!!

Not to doubt you, but does it have an 18 thread pin? Do you have a picture of it?

From J&J? Does J&J have a picture of a Josswest logo on the butt plate?

CALLING ALL CUE DETECTIVES… ID NEEDED!!!

Not to doubt you, but are you sure that's not a Joss, rather than JossWest? They did start out with 5/16 X 18 at Joss, Baltimore, with that joint collar ring pattern. Do you have a picture of Bill's engraving on the buttplate?

CALLING ALL CUE DETECTIVES… ID NEEDED!!!

Can you show us one? Bill was through with the 18 thread pin early with original Joss (East) cues in the late 60s. Other than that, this is not Bill's bumper.

What ferrules are on your snooker cues? I thought brass was pretty standard.

CALLING ALL CUE DETECTIVES… ID NEEDED!!!

Asian import. Bill did not make any cue with a 5/16 X 18 pin. Bumper is also wrong.

    Mystery Cue

The last picture actually does not show much of an off centering of the joint collar dashes within the collar. And if there happens to be a difference, a lot of cue makers consider that an artistic thing, rather than a flaw. Early Joss cues did that with a ring assembly above the wrap. Not a...
