Solid but I use old school shafts and on that note this is the best maple shaft I have seen in a long time.. pure white can't tell where the shaft ends and ferrule begins.. tight grain... beautiful Plays right at my sweet spot I don't see myself buying another cue for a good long time.

I have cues that cost twice as much that aren't built half as well..

For play any aramith will be fine.. for practice it's measles all the way you can see the spin you actually applied not what you tried for but what you got, and even better you can see when and where the spin grabbed. Extremely useful information that all white cue balls can't give you.
