Van Boening vs. Gorst 10-Ball Race to 120, Rematch June 2025 -- General Comments Thread

Because among pros it takes a 3 day race to 100 or 120 to be certain the best man won....and betting 50k plus, you want to have the best guy win. We seen plenty of very close finishes over the years.

    Rodney Morris' Tainted Past

He led 2 guys to jump a player he'd just lost too. He turned on them at trial and took 6 months in the federal penitentiary. Guy is the real deal regardless and if I'm ever in a situation, he's gonna be the pro I want on my side.

    Rodney Morris' Tainted Past

Seen him at the bar at Derby City in 2012 or 2014 singing country at the Karoke hour. Was pretty good. They had the char broiled oysters and when I wasn't betting, that was my jam.

Van Boening vs. Gorst 10-Ball Race to 120, Rematch June 2025 -- General Comments Thread

This ain't over by a long shot. SVB has more determination that any pro I ever met....he will make a way.

    Rodney Morris' Tainted Past

So dude got caught up in illegal drug activity.....and got caught. Just like 85% of the people who post here but didn't get caught. Literally, "But for the grace of God, go I". Criminalizing drug offenses, when the majority of people partake, is hypocritical.

    Rodney Morris' Tainted Past

Rodney is one of the most open and available pros we ever had the pleasure of watching. Besides some of the best people I ever met were in the worst of circumstances.

pool cue once in a lifetime buy

I've more than once been the guy to tell someone the real value of what they have when its a unknown or good cue listed too cheaply....only to have them not want to sell it to me at the new higher price because, "Now they know what they have!" I don't even chase collectible cue finds anymore...

I'd have given him 200 on principle and because I have a conscience.

    Advice on selling ivory-inlayed cue.

Just price shit to move.....and it sells. Listing at ridiculous prices means people don't even be interested. The amount of people interested in tying up money on the cues of old diminishes by the second as the generations pass. Kinda like musical chairs, you don't want to be the guy without...

    Run this layout

The best pool is not directed by conscious thought. It's muscle memory...like someone playing an instrument who isn't even thinking of finger placement. To be a player...you have to practice in ways that develop the ability to read a table, get down and execute under pressure....to where it's...

    Run this layout

Learn how to recover from "straight in position". One way is to shoot rail first with draw when the cuball and object balls are under an couple inches off the rail. Cueball goes straight up table. Not a hard shot with practice. Otherwise force follow with English or draw out 2 rails to the top...

    Run this layout

Play low on the 2 ball so the cueball goes to the upper longrail, Z to the lower long rail and play speed to come off that rail a foot or so. Don't get straight in. You will have an angle to play above or below the 4. Going at the 2 and hitting the end rail to come straight down is fraught...
