Do you think Pool is Fun?

No….pool is not fun…it is a continual work in progress. As such, it accordingly aligns with one’s hope & expectations. Is pool satisfying? Absolutely, otherwise I’d quit and so would you. Is pool frustrating? Oh boy, it causes molar grinding. What’s your motivation behind playing pool other...

Waxing the cue ball? WTF is Kaci talking about now?

Gosh…..you can smell Pledge Wax 10 ft away from where you apply it. Hope they at least used lemon scented.

Waxing the cue ball? WTF is Kaci talking about now?

Well, I recalled that BCA prohibited the use of waxed or polished pool balls in a sanctioned tournament. Apparently, WPA is the governing body because BCA now references WPA’s rules which strictly forbid using polished balls or waxed cue ball in a sanctioned tournament. The pool balls can only...

Waxing the cue ball? WTF is Kaci talking about now?

BCA had a rule, dunno if it still applies, that pool balls in a tournament cannot be waxed or polished before a tournament. Balls could be only be washed with soap and water or denatured alcohol.

    Cork wrap opinion?

I think Penn linen fishing line is a very high quality wrap for pool cues and Blue Mountain is a close 2nd. Cortland is still #1 and searching is frustrating, plus #9 is usually all that you see and it’s kinda expensive.

List of pro players who stick to wood as their playing shaft

You must have prior experience with green wood shafts or something. My Palmer shaft is likely older than you and straight as a taut string approaching 60 years old. My Schon cue was completed in early ‘85 and is like new. Wood shafts can warp and can dent. You can’t always eliminate the warp but...

List of pro players who stick to wood as their playing shaft

The first 3 watches below cost as much as a custom cue. By comparison, the last watch is like a cue from Walmart. Expensive chronometers only do one thing….keep time. Custom cues do one thing…..hit pool balls, just as intended. What you pay for a watch has little to do with anything other than...

How do we think a modern CF break shaft would perform on an old brass jointed Adam cue?

What is the weight of your cue butt? How much does the carbon fiber shaft weigh? Presume your cue has the notoriously durable 5/16x14 piloted steel joint. Your cue happens to be of the era when Adam cues commanded respect for its precise milling, excellent fit and balance.the durability of your...

Why Pool Leagues Should Embrace “ALL BALL FOULS”

My post never mentioned nor discussed the Fargo rating methodology or any specific handicap rating system. However, I did write 7’ tables are easier for me, Mike Page shld play on a 10’ table & all ball fouls should count. I think in your hurry to post, confusion appeared before composing your...

    Cork wrap opinion?

Cork wraps feel great but as pointed out, sometimes cork wraps will dry out over time like cork on a wine bottle. Resale value is not helped by a cork wrap. In fact, it probably limits the resale interest and resulting sale price. Now Cortland linen, if you could get any, helps the resale value...

    Ivory on Pin

Traveling with a pool cue, especially an expensive one, is different from carrying the cue on your person (accompanying you). When you surrender it and the cue gets inspected as it goes through the circus handling with airport baggage personnel and TSA inspections, what do you do if it doesn’t...

    Ivory on Pin

Stop it….absolute nonsense….your cues cannot be confiscated in the United States merely because you possess them. The reg is lucidly clear……possession is not against the law. Only 13 states restrict the sale of ivory and interstate commerce has a de minimis exemption allowing it to be legal. I...

What changes have happened to pool in the last decade?

Maybe convert some or half to 4.5” CP? Sierra Billiards, where I play, has 1/2 the 9’ tables with 4.25” CP size.

What changes have happened to pool in the last decade?

All I know is I’ve used V10 for over a year and Pagulayan chalk for most of this year. It is made by TAOM, looks like V10, applies to a tip like V10 and performs like V10. They could have branded it TAOM V11 for all I care. The shape just makes it better.

What changes have happened to pool in the last decade?

Yup……but why bother……..it is the same chalk…….or at least it does the identical thing as V10…….and you don’t require a chalk holder either unless that’s your thing. But change is hard for some players because they form habits.

What changes have happened to pool in the last decade?

That’s exactly why I tell players Pagulayan Chalk, which is really TAOM V10 or equivalent since it is TAOM, is the best. It doesn’t run away & hide if you drop it like the round shape version & feels more natural to apply because of its shape.

What changes have happened to pool in the last decade?

Boy, I think you are really misspeaking and obviously, it is your opinion as oppposedto being evidentially verifiable. Diamond, Rasmussen, Predator are much more popular than Brunswick that probably trails Olhausen pool tables. Wood shafts are still popular from what I can see but admittedly CF...

What changes have happened to pool in the last decade?

I beg to differ and I wish it wasn’t true but unfortunately it is. Pool is not at its most popular and any statistics you might be inclined to cite need to be weighed against our population and related demographics, as well as our M1and M2 money supplies. There are lots to consider but I go by...

What changes have happened to pool in the last decade?

There are a lot less pool rooms operating nationwide, especially in smaller towns and rural areas, because of COVID. It is not a positive development, or post, but it is reality and to deny it is not only naive but is a distortion of the facts.

List of pro players who stick to wood as their playing shaft

Black Boar cues are not known as much for using veneers as ebony points that are adorned very exquisitely. Don’t misjudge by your experience. BB Cues are well known or so are Tibbits, Schick & other great names. Pool cues, especially those made by esteemed, deceased cue makers, are highly...
