Should we start a petition to change the 5 ball back to orange again?

Can we instead make it black and the 8 ball orange? Now that will mess with some people.

Watching professional pool, do you prefer winner break or alternate break?

Correct, in continuous pool (forerunner to straight pool), innings carried across racks. The full 15 balls were re-racked and the player continued to either do a safety break or an open break. Early in pools history players believed that a players ability to extend runs and control the table...

Americans - are you happy with what Matchroom is doing with Pool ?

One thing to keep in mind that if our dreams come true and matchroom does successfully develop a world 9 ball tour with a full calendar of events paying good prize money, they won’t be able to schedule around everything. Similarly the WST (world snooker tour) doesn’t check to make sure they are...

Americans - are you happy with what Matchroom is doing with Pool ?

The best thing that they are doing is elevating the way they present the tournaments. You get the feeling during this past week that you were watching the world championship and not just two guys playing pool. They did a good job giving you a sense of the outside matches and the context of any...

Why is Eagle Eye Mr. 714 now?

He has indeed. My understanding is that John took it about as well as could be expected.

    Hand flip's and such!

He probably could have handled it better, but I’d give him a pass on that one. If I’m coming to the table and my opponent gets up and leaves, expecting me to wait, I’d be thinking it might be a move.

    Hand flip's and such!

Can’t comment on the other stuff, but aren’t you only supposed to take restroom breaks on your turn or between games?

Watching professional pool, do you prefer winner break or alternate break?

No matter what format you use, pool is different. You can’t influence your opponents turn (outside of what position you leave) and don’t shoot until your break or your opponent leaves the table. In alternate breaks, if your opponents gets the first break you are reliant on them making a...

Emily Frazer making a lot of sense

If they want an equivalent of a 9 darter or a 147, they need to stick with winner breaks. There are no high runs in 9 ball without winner breaks. There is an alternate break pack, but then there would be a disincentive to win 9-0, for example, since you would get fewer break and runs.

The 9ball championships and winner break excitement.

I think the fact that these polls always seem to favour winner breaks is reason enough to have a healthy dose of winner breaks tournaments. Certainly more than what we get. It’s not a winning strategy to ignore the consumers preferences.

Watching professional pool, do you prefer winner break or alternate break?

Yes I’ve noticed that, but I never hear anyone talk about it. It just doesn’t garner the same level of excitement as a big package. I don’t think people even notice an alternating package is even happening most of the time.

The 9ball championships and winner break excitement.

Perhaps we should dispense with 14.1 and go back to plain ol’ continuous pool. Start with safety break every rack, now that will be fair to everyone.

WORLD POOL (nineball) CHAMPIONSHIP (6-10 April2022), UK, Winner $60K

He’s been playing, just not in the bigger events I think.

Watching professional pool, do you prefer winner break or alternate break?

Winner breaks. I’ve tried to enjoy Alternate break for 15 years but I just can’t. I mean, it’s fine and better than no pool at all. But it’s just boring unless players are trading racks. But to grow the game I think that winner breaks is critical. Most cue sports that have thrived at any...

WORLD POOL (nineball) CHAMPIONSHIP (6-10 April2022), UK, Winner $60K

I think it has more to do with SVB having more fans so there was a bigger audience here. Omar’s a great player but he doesn’t have Shane’s following.

WORLD POOL (nineball) CHAMPIONSHIP (6-10 April2022), UK, Winner $60K

I agree that the template is not ideal, I much prefer the triangle for winner breaks. But I don’t like the trend of trying to make the break too difficult to figure out. I just find that doing so overemphasizes the break shot. I much rather watching this current set up to the, break from the...

WORLD POOL (nineball) CHAMPIONSHIP (6-10 April2022), UK, Winner $60K

They’ve resisted the trend and stuck with a winner break format which creates environment where such matches can occur. Even if Mika makes that 5 ball, it’s a great run out and a great story or the tournament. The lack of ball markers is indeed an oversight, but you have to partially put the...

WORLD POOL (nineball) CHAMPIONSHIP (6-10 April2022), UK, Winner $60K

This match is awesome. This is the type of thing you lose when you go to alternating breaks.

Ah ok, thanks. I guess that’s how 4 packs get turned into 7 packs. Someone like me just half paying attention lol.

Did Mika run 7 racks there? I’ve only had it on in the background and I just know that I haven’t seen Shane in a while.
