    U.S. snooker

I have to agree. You will just not a get the pro level of player in the US to truly compete. Aly is a decent player, but the snooker pro tour is a different level. I have friends who have made several 147's and they are just very good club players. Aly is a long way from their standard. That...

    Fargo rating

I think that is a pretty fair assessment of where the pro level would be for the men to be determined as pro level. What do you think would be the Fargo rate for a woman to be classified as pro level? I was thinking around 670-690.

    European douche bags

Totally agree on Hatch, he is a big lad. No one came to blows at that after party, but there was definitely a lot of testosterone and animosity in the air. There was certainly a lot of posturing and chests pumped out from a couple of opposition players.

    European douche bags

It got a little frisky at the after party as well. Emotions were definitely high that year.

    Matchroom dumps WPA!

Thank you for the detailed response. I am not sure that makes them corrupt as such, more ruthless. I personally think they are the best thing to happen to pool for decades, but I was around for them revolutionizing the snooker scene. I definitely recommend watching The Rack Pack on Youtube, it...

    Matchroom dumps WPA!

How are Matchroom corrupt? I am not disagreeing, I am just not aware of them doing anything corrupt.

    European douche bags

To be fair to them, they are getting quite a bit of stick from the crowd and emotions are clearly high. - I am however pretty biased as I am English ;)

    European douche bags

You need entertaining characters in pool that make viewers care about who wins and who loses. Filler and Shaw are entertaining to watch both on the table and by exhibiting their emotions. Long may it continue. If that is not for you, may I suggest watching lawn bowls?

Puerto Rico Open 10 Ball, Men & Women (Nov 15-18), Winner $25K (Men)/$20K (Women)

The scoring system in the bracket is a mess. It looks like they are trying to do too much with limited bracket functionality. Probably better to just put the overall set scores.

Puerto Rico Open 10 Ball, Men & Women (Nov 15-18), Winner $25K (Men)/$20K (Women)

The venue looks great. So much so, that I booked a last minute trip to go and have a look at it all. Plus it's a good excuse to have a sneaky mojito or two. :)

    Low deflection stroke

I think if i learned about deflection I would start thinking about shots and drop 50 Fargo points. I only started using a low deflection shaft (carbon) a year or so ago and that was mainly because I am clumsy and kept putting dings in my wood shaft. :)

Earl on time clocks and extensions

I am totally fine with people taking their time, if that is their pace. Some posters on here and many pool players have a win at all costs mentality. "I play slowly to break a speed demons tempo". I see that as someone who is not equipped to beat someone by skill and has to resort to other...

Earl on time clocks and extensions

Putting "someone on ice", by deliberate slow play is one of the reasons why pool has a such a shitty reputation. How about beating someone purely by your skill and strategy on the table? When I first started playing American Pool, I once had a highly respected pro spend the entire match...

Team Europe Selection is Complete for 2022 Mosconi Cup

Representing your country means a lot to Europeans. On the Mosconi, you are representing your country, as a part of Europe. To suggest a European would switch allegiances to representing the US after they have already represented Europe is pure fantasy. I see those posts come up all of the...

    Mosconi Cup Team - USA

I would like Earl, as he has a higher upside and he is also by far the biggest US name for UK audiences, which will help increase the tv ratings. Personally, I would love Matchroom to reserve one spot for a "classic player", such as Jimmy White for Europe and Earl for the US. That would...

Seeding - The purpose and methodology

That’s a similar set up to the Sledgehammer tournament, I don’t necessarily disagree with it, as it basically just makes non seeds effectively play a qualifying tournament at the event. Just tough action for non seeds. They did get a good amount of players competing, which is always good to see.

Seeding - The purpose and methodology

Thank you for the great response. I personally like seeing for pro events if it is done logically. The seeding for the Sledgehammer event was an example of where you had two of the best three players in the event seeded low, so some of the top seeds (some low level players) had a horrible dream...

Seeding - The purpose and methodology

Tennis is the model I personally prefer. They use a hybrid seeing system based off of ranking, form and known ability.

Seeding - The purpose and methodology

Thank you. That makes perfect sense. I would prefer exceptions to be made for known top players, but then I guess you may have to deal with disgruntled regulars.

Seeding - The purpose and methodology

I have noticed some interesting seeding choices in some of the recent big events and I am curious as to what people think is the purpose behind seeding. 1. Is it to reward your regulars? 2. Set the field so higher level players don’t play each other early in a tournament? 3. a combination of 1...
