    Sardo rack.

Which is why it works for you. There was this guy that got yelled at for doing it. His OCD kicked in and he would touch the head ball and pretend to tap it a couple times.

    Sardo rack.

It’s terrible in a public setting. After so many different people whack the head ball where they think it should be, it wallows out a pothole. I’ve used the sardo and did not like it. Very cumbersome and I thought I got a better rack out of a normal triangle.

    Soft Jaws replacement material

Update: It is not as stiff, like Busbee Cue mentioned, so it may wear out faster. It still seems to work well and I have plenty.

    A Tip installers ultimate challenge

You’re probably right. I went back and forth on it. They can buy new cues online at $15 each. The bar owners don’t know know or care about the fact that the cues they have could be a better quality or that I would put a triangle tip on instead of the crappy tip on the cheap new cue. Their...

    A Tip installers ultimate challenge

Do what you want but $5 is too cheap for me. If they have a handful I’ll do $10, but no shaft cleaning, that would be extra. Since you know they are abusing them, I would not guarantee anything once out the door. You seem aggravated so charge for your time with an aggravation fee attached.

    A Tip installers ultimate challenge

I just had one of these come in. The ferrule was missing. He just wanted the tenon cut off and then faced flat. He just wanted to glue his own tip on. Shame, it was a beautiful shaft.

How Important Is it to Own/Use a Break Cue

Thank you. The guy was from out of town. He had taken it to someone and they told him it was unrepairable. He held onto it because it was such an expensive shaft and had hopes that maybe it could be repaired someday. As to the break cue question. Using a house cue works and I’ve done it many...

    Rotary tool in tool post

Ok thanks. I liked the dremel because it made a cleaner cut. Maybe my parting tool needs to be sharpened.

How Important Is it to Own/Use a Break Cue

If you don’t break any harder than a hard playing shot then your player is probably fine. Keep in mind if you like a soft tip, you’ll make it harder faster. Also if you have a low deflection shaft, they are generally hollow at the tip end making them more fragile. I’ve repaired a few players...

    Rotary tool in tool post

Michael, I ended up getting a router and a Deco mount for this. I also got a mount like you showed for other things but mostly to cut off rings. Works great except the mandrel for the saw blade has some runout. The first one was unusable so I sent it back and ordered another. A little better but...

Lucasi LZSP2 or PECHAUER PRO H

I’m a Pechauer guy. I have 7 of them and prior to building cues that is what I played with. Personal preference applies but their cues play great for me. They are out of Wisconsin, have a great warranty and are very easy to work with.

I said no to the Scruggs

Yes most of today’s raw photos are huge. There are multiple easy ways to post them. Screen shot on a phone or PC is simple. Resizing on the iPhone is also simple. Programs or extensions on the PC work. I’m sure androids have a similar way. See link below...

    Soft Jaws replacement material

I received it today and yes; it is pretty much the same stuff. Because it is softer than the other one, it does not handle high torque well. It works great for regular operations where you cannot use a collet, like a newly installed ferrule that is larger than the shaft. FYI If you want the...

    Wrap fixture question

Yes I made the channel measuring tool. Simple but it works. I first used a plastic ruler and cut it to adjust like a slide rule. Then I made the white one which is easier to use. (note that I was some thick scrap leather I was practicing with on a broken cue.)

    Wrap fixture question

Not the same thing. The wrap magic is amazing but I had t make my own template measuring tool.
