I agree. It looks good that way.

That doesn’t sound right. Phenolic is made out of epoxy. In the picture is that just bare sanded down or is there epoxy over? If it’s just sanded down, wipe some alcohol on it and that’ll give you an idea what it should look like with finish over it. It’s always hard to tell in a picture, but...

Wanting advice from the cuemakers please 🙏

Because no glue or finish was involved. I used Delrin for this one. I normally use phenolic for most of my butt caps. Tomahawk is good for white or black as well.

Cue lathe indicator mounts for sale

The link fails for me. If you need the dove tail one look Here. The other one I just mount the indicator directly to the base of the cross-slide.

Got a little worried when I saw that picture. Then I read it better lol. The glue relief is only on the barrel of the pin where the fit has little tolerance. Just need a way for air and extra glue to escape.

Based on your picture (unless it is on the other side) you need to cut a small relief groove. Mine already have one. Plenty of time to get the pin in with the epoxy you have. Many like that type because it is easier to remove the pin in the future if needed. Just put it in slowly. When you...

Looks nice and clean. Did you ever get a dial indicator? Leather is nice but can have a slight runout and need adjusting. A collet or if you will be finishing the cue using nothing will have less chance of runout. If the cue is out, the pin is out.

    Conversion Cues by Unknown Makers

Are you just working to build cues only or are you trying to be a local repair tech as well? Starting as a repair guy helped me a lot. I used that experience to build my skills up while I slowly built-up tools and wood. I started with a local bar with house cues in horrendous condition. I...

    Conversion Cues by Unknown Makers

That’s my point. If someone brought me the titlist cue and it was a simple conversion, that’s about right. Adjusting a little for inflation 😉 There’s a Jacoby on eBay for almost $3000. Prices will be all over the place depending on type of titlest, complexity of the conversion, maker etc.

    Conversion Cues by Unknown Makers

Price will vary. A conversion has a wide amount of variance. Don't forget most need a brand-new shaft made as well. A good conversion can be simple, and it can also involve most if not all aspects of building a cue from blocks. Minimalistic: Cut it in half, install pin and insert and done...

Thanks Mike and welcome back by the way. Are you mis-quoting me as 1.4" or was it a typo and 1.24" is too long?

I have 1.24" from the joint face. Also chamfer the bore so you can face it off without hitting the pin.

    Conversion Cues by Unknown Makers

Titlist. It's a pool cue not a golf club. For a big name cue-maker you would probably pay more then. An unknown can still make a great cue. The cost of the blank, materials and labor can be justified. I understand concerns for your "hard earned money", but it needs to balance with the other...

    Conversion Cues by Unknown Makers

"Titlist" I am always on the lookout for an old Titlist or Willie Hoppe to use as a blank. I have two Hoppes but I don't want to mess with them. It is one of my favorites with those veneers. If it is made well could be worth that. Type of wood plays a part in the price as well. This is a very...

OK so use a thinner epoxy just in the void, not the faster cure used on the pin?

I've been using that tap without any issues. I recently got a piloted version that works well but still has the gap. Since a flat bottom tap doesn't seem to be a thing, I've been thinking about getting another regular tap and having someone cut off most of the taper so I can go back at the end...

There are many discussions on AZB about this. Personal preference is the most common theme. Screw together time, wear longevity, market compatibility, tightness, appearance, "feel", etc. I like the 5/16-14 pin and used it for my first few cues. I was familiar with the thread size from my...

What Makes a BREAK cue ?

I’m using a Pechauer Black Ice shaft on a butt from another cue. I’ve been using it for 4 years and it’s as smooth as the day I got it with zero maintenance. Super solid shaft made for breaking. I’ve tried different break tips but the Bulletproof break tip has been the best for me so far. The...

Since it was already a little different with a black butt plate he was fine with it. He wanted a higher bumper to protect it better.
