I use Centroid on my machine. We have the option to replace the standard M6 tool change with a customized macro that pauses the program, prompts me to install tool x, then asks me if I want to reset the reference point or continue. If I choose reset, it then does a tool touch off subroutine...

As others have requested, we need to see pictures of your setup in order to help diagnose your problem. Please post pictures of your lathe with a dowel mounted in it. Then a close-up of the headsrock, cross-slide with cutter, and the realistic. Finally, rig up a mount to hold a dial indicator...

You are correct that cue suppliers, for the most part, simply repackage a commercially available product. So you might be able to take your nearly empty bottle to a woodworking store and ask if they can match it based on smell and feel. My 2 cents, Gary

Chris and all, IMHO much of the hoopla over tip pads is cosmetic and not functional. We see these pads in clear and all colors of the rainbow. They, are cut from acrylic, polycarbonate, and other unspecified plastics. One proponent even claims his special brand of pad reduces deflection...
