    Soaking Kamui black tips

Well,I haven't. Given the cost of Kamui's, I'm not inclined to screw up a few just to test. :) Gary

    Good lathe

Keith Where did you hear that? There is nothing especially more hazardous about purple heart than maple or many other woods used in cuemaking. However, some of the oily hardwoods like cocobolo can cause distress for some people. You have to avoid breathing the dust of all woods. Gary

    G-core tip replacement

If it came from the factory with a pad, the factory thinks it needs to be on there - or at least that it helps prevent splitting of the shaft. Leave it on. My 2 cents, Gary

    Good lathe

I would suggest you search here and in the Cue Machinery forum for "lathe". This question gets asked in both forums 2-3 times per week. You'll get a lot more information that way. Good luck

Cue Repair Lathe Upcoming Purchase - General Questions

I agree with Dave -this "huge opportunity" that you anticipate, may be an opportunity to fail. Simply purchasing a lathe doesn't make you a cue tech ready to work on other people's cues. In addition to a suitable lathe there are $$$ worth of tools, cutters, collets, ferrules, sealers, waxes...

Which Sewing machine motor to get

Tommy If you're asking me - the Hall Effect that I replaced with the potentiometer is intended as a pedal control. The motor comes with rods to connect to a physical pedal. HTH Gary

    tapering, taper bars and such

Hi Ron I don't understand how you're going to turn a 29 or 30 inch blank to round, or offset the tail end with a lathe that's only 22 inches between centers. No matter which direction you cut, 8 inches of one end is going to be clamped in the chuck. Trying to offset the other end is going to...

    Mcdermott joint diameter to large

I'm not quite sure what you are trying to accomplish. Are you wanting to use that shaft on a different butt? Yes the joint end of the shaft can be turned down, it is a fairly easy task. The turned down portion will have to be refinished. But of course, it will no longer match the butt. My 2...

Hey Guys, With regard to the 3 popular lathe motors - Consew CSM-100, Consew EL-550, (both mentioned above) and the Penn State, has anyone set them up for speed controlled by 0-10v from CAD/CAM/CNC? Thanks for any input, Gary
