    Qctp?

Dave, I'm sorry to hear you had a problem with him. I have purchased the QCTP set, the veneer holder, and the point jig from him at different times with no issue whatsoever. All 3 are well machined and precise. My 2 cents, Gary

    Qctp?

I bought a set from a guy named Preston Jeter on Facebook. They are steel and very strong and sturdy. Another option for you to consider. My 2 cents, Gary

    Needing a birdseye maple shaft

Birds-eye can be difficult to smooth down, especially on a shaft. Those little eyes are harder than the surrounding wood. That said, I have made some and they are pretty, but like any maple, or any wood for that matter, no two are the same. My 2 cents, Gary

    silver veneers

The ratio of scrap/fine grounds of silver to actual inlay must be high, adding to the cost of the cue. I suppose some can be recovered and melted down, but still. My 2 cents, Gary

Question about air cooled CNC spindle

Dave, I recently changed my air cooled spindle to a 1.5kW water cooled unit and it is indeed much quieter and the TIR is much lower. Right now I've got the coolant running out of a submerged pump in a bucket of water - not exactly neat and tidy. I will be changing that set up to a PC CPU water...

Question about air cooled CNC spindle

JC, I would probably steer clear of any spindle with a an ER11 collet as they are not very accurate, in general. I started off with an air-cooled 48 volt unit. Got it all wired up and then measured the TIR at .002 inch. Contacted Precise Bits about a precision nut and it didn't fit the shaft...

Source for high grade maple shafts

You probably won't get much public response to your question - if you will read the "Rules for Posting" you will find: "Supply sources can be asked for, but all replies should be sent in the form of Private Messages. This protects our cuemakers supply sources from the general public. Almost no...

How to check if your ferrule is loose

The simple answer is twist and pull. If there is a gap between the ferrule and shaft, that is a problem. If the ferrule twists a little bit to the left then a little bit to the right, that is a problem. But you can often tell by the sound, as you have heard. My 2 cents, Gary

    CNC Controller Question

Hi JC, There is some merit to what you say, and to Dave's point what we do is mostly simpler tapering, pockets, and inlays. Newer software does give better graphics of your tool paths, supports newer more efficient clearing techniques, and supports newer motor technologies like Leadshine as...

    CNC Controller Question

I want to tread lightly here, but Gecko G540 is not necessarily your best choice looking to the future. Don't get me wrong, I own 4 of them. Ferris/Farris (sp?) the owner/inventor of the Gecko line is a great guy and offers free/low cost repairs for his products. But there hasn't been much...

    ER-11 vs ER-11A Collet Nut

Hey Guys, I have a 48VDC air-cooled spindle on my CNC inlay machine. It has a "ER-11" collet holder on it. It indicates pretty well, but I thought I would enhance that by getting one of Precise Bits ER-11 precision collet nuts. Well, little did I realize there is an ER-11 nut and an ER-11A...
