Are the tips of the pockets not considered like a rail?

yup, the cue stick grazed the 6 ball a hair whereupon the 6 ball oscillated slightly. i checked in slow motion, it moved

Why do pool players need so much time?

all those things are totally cultural. monkey see, monkey do. the walking laps around the table is obviously unnecessary as proven by the top players who don't do it. yes, layouts are more varied in pool, but... these guys have seen all those shots before, thousands of times. in practice and...

    Dress code in tournaments

well the home nation series is just slacks and black shirt. no bowtie, no waistcoat..

Why do pool players need so much time?

he's a one off, but look at luca brecel when he's in the zone, or zhao, trump, etc. no, pool players (and slow snooker players) don't need to take so much time, they do it because they can

SVB shouldn’t be allowed to turn hearing aids off?

i took that part as a joke

    Dress code in tournaments

ok. and why should this british, outdated, urban attire from the 19th century be the norm for modern peoples fashion? dress codes are good, but should reflect our times. and i'm fine with slacks, polo, discrete shoes. but don't make me wear a bowtie or other stupid shit

    Dress code in tournaments

DCC now has a dress code of sorts. i've speculated that it was ronnie alcano that was the straw that broke the camel's back (but he was in good company that year) because the year after it was: All dress items must be neat and not torn. Prohibited: Short pants and distressed/ripped jeans...

Why do pool players need so much time?

well that's one part of the equation. his opponent here, thepchaya, is the fastest player on the tour, in average shot time. massive talent, but he doesn't win any tournaments and are rarely in finals. if he was winning more he would be more on the main TV table, which is what sponsors want. the...

High point 9ball, no break box, 3point rule, advice wanted

cool. throwing yourself into a gauntlet there. report with text and photos if possible. i enjoyed reading the last one.👍 doesn't china open have 100k first or something? filler won a lot last time he won. maybe he's won two in a row, don't remember

    SVB-Fedor.... Texas Open

well, i don't agree with you on allowing a soft break, but i do agree on at least testing a 20 second shot clock on a 4.5" table event. it will favor certain players obviously, but not necessarily just the suspected ones (filler, jayson etc).

    9-Ball Pushout - Foul

funniest i've seen is a pushout from the chair. just sat there and one hand cued the cb. very good player, was one match from a world semifinal once, but as you may imagine slightly arrogant lol myself i've scratched on a push. table rolled off quite bad but still not my proudest moment

    SVB-Fedor.... Texas Open

could be argued DCC and countless other events like this already made that case - for the very top bunch at least. ref racking or tighter tables in pool room hosted events are unlikely. so you either accept that this sometimes happens or go to alt break

Gary Wilson back in a final (live now, wuhan)

nice to see gary back in a final. down 0-2 to xiao goudong. gary hasn't played good snooker (or pool) in a long while, said he might have the yips. apparently not.

Fedor Gorst on the Joe Rogan podcast today

i think they all get, to a degree. shane shakes visibly sometimes, nick varner does too. they're human. but they still harness their nervous energy and win. filler has a lot of visible nervous energy, he really feeds off it. gerson martinez is maybe the most extreme of the current crop

Most Amazing Pro BANK SHOTS of All Time

if you look at max and shane's shot there, that's not luck in any way. they almost take the bank for granted rather. for alcaide and melling, obviously it was no guts no glory at that point. it's just madness how good the likes of fedor, filler, billy etc are at banking. while filler's run in...

Most Amazing Pro BANK SHOTS of All Time

this combo bank is pretty neat for a winning straight pool shot (filler, semifinal am. 14.1 championship 2021):
