what do you cut a one piece with?

So now you are tied to the taper that is on the one pc shaft? Isn't that a big part of the reason for wanting to create a "sneaky"? Being able to put your tapered shaft on a house cue looking butt? So you can dupe your opponents into thinking you don't have a clue what you're doing between...

what do you cut a one piece with?

Think outside of the box. Most full length cues you are only cutting the save the butt or on rare occasion the shaft. Most of the time the shaft is so warped it's kindling for the individuals living in a cold winter state. If you are trying to save both halves (which I'm not sure why) just cut...

What's better : Three Jaw or Four Jaw chucks for a CueMan Deluxe Lathe

If the piece inserted into the chuck is round, a 4 jaw is hard to beat. If it's not 100% round but close, a 3 jaw with the tru-set ability is hard to beat. (or read the first line again) Sometimes depending on the piece inserted no matter what chuck you use, close is going to have to be good enough.

    Threaded parts

Collars and ferrules are threaded. One reason is the threads are the clamp that holds everything in place till the glue dries......forever. In almost 30 yrs of doing it this way not one collar or ferrule has cracked. As far as evidence...I've seen collars that have not been threaded separate...

    Pantographs, Still used?

I believe there may be some misconception for the use of a computer operated machine in the cue building industry. Yes, they can be programed to do an inlay and make the cue look a bit fancier to the eye. And yes it has zero to do with playability, IMO. The reason I have a use for and have...

    Pantographs, Still used?

I know there a few still out there not yet willing to cave to modern technology. 25 yrs ago I had a Gorton panto mill that I messed with for a few yrs before I converted it a computer op machine. It has since been sent to the old panto home and I forcibly made myself learn to write my own G...

    Old Helmstetter woodscrew shaft

There were a number of those cues put in circulation so I would believe that anyone with a usable butt may have an interest. I think those were 8tpi, but may be a 10tpi. I don't remember off the top of my head. Put it up in the 4 sale section and you may find a buyer.

I understand it's because you "want to". But there has a be a reason why? "want to" is not your motivator.

White dots in the epoxy finish

You're correct...I think I got it backwards. But yes...I don't worry anymore because I'm working in a complete climate controlled area.

White dots in the epoxy finish

Some of it may also be when you are applying the epoxy. After mixing your resin with the hardener allow it to sit and gas off for a short period of time before applying it to the cue. You also never want to apply the epoxy in a warm shop and then quit for the day and allow the shop or area you...

    Ferrule glue experiment

I commend you for doing tests to see what the results are. Most just come on here asking "how do I do this?" "I only have one piece of wood and don't want to waste it" The end result of doing your own testing is priceless. There is a corner in my shop filled that is the end result of almost 30...

    Ferrule glue experiment

Thread the ferrule and use Tbond and you will not have any lines expect a transition line from wood to ferrule. The two faces must also be clean, flat and smooth. Exception: There are a couple different ferrule materials that are what I'll call "translucent" and you will have a ghost line now...

    Viking cue project......................

Someone might like to mess with a project cue. Solid..no noise detected. Looks original. Looks to be 3/8-10 pin I'm not calling it perfect straight but hard to notice any movement when rolled on the table. No shafts...butt only. The last photo shows what I would consider the worst nick in the...
