So what are you telling me? Good thing I may have some ratholed? Old growth is a little overhyped IMO. First thing is the term old growth needs to be defined. What is considered OG? 20 years old? 40 years old? 50-100 years old? There is no magic in how old the wood is. The other thing is...

Seen it lived it felt it. 401K's were turned into 201K's over night. 2008-2011 was brutal in the real market for some and a God sent for others. Prices dropped considerably. Depending on when you bought and were you gonna live in it or flip decided if you won or lost. I don't see that...

I feel very fortunate that my neighbors have laying hens and will occasionally knock on the door with a carton or two. ;)

As I've always been taught about hiking in the woods...you don't have to be faster than the grizzly bear, just faster than one other person in the group! But if you're the only person in the group of 1...then yea...you might be in trouble! o_O

Not to mention some wood species are no longer available period! What type of price do you put on BRW, Brazilian Tulip..etc, etc. And yes, for someone to purchase a lathe like I use today they're going to pay a minimum of 3 times the price for the lathe and tooling invested that I had out of...

Listen, I hear ya talking and that sir is your right to cue collecting. There are many out there tho that feel 5K to 25K for a cue is not a problem and will pay that OR more for the right one.

Maybe try collecting coins because it sounds like cues are not going to fit into your wheelhouse.

    BALANCE QUESTION

It's my opinion that "most well known builders today generally shoot for the forward balance of something in front of the wrap area of the cue. Balance point is one of the harder requests to accommodate and generally falls where it falls according to the builders specs. ie....99% of mine end in...

    Arthur Cues

You know they are located in Germany? A quick look at the pictures and it would be very difficult to identify any woods. The builder will be the best choice and all other attempts would merely be just a guess. (speculation) https://www.billard-dienst.de/

Yea, once you bore out the nylon insert and plug it with a maple dowel, you can pretty much turn it into any pin joint you desire.

The shafts are 5/16-18? with nylon? Bore the shafts. insert (glue) in a maple plug and you can make it any pin size you wish. Don't put 18tpi pins in the cues. That in my opinion is backward thinking.

It's part of my 201K so the plan is to sell all left over woods before I croak so I can enjoy all that $ ;)

I seen that dude, Man. He was out in front of the grocery store playing his tambourine. I sang with him, he didn't even know the words to the song! Oh wait, I think that was a different story about Santa Claus.

It's hard...and getting harder. That's the number one thing I'll tell anyone getting into the hobby or even just thinking about getting into the hobby. Buy as much wood as your storage and extra dollar budget will allow you to do. If you have no wood, you have no end product! You can never...
