    Cyclop shutting down?

Thank you for that color chart Fatboy! Very useful information. Based on this, all of the sets we see coming from Dynaspheres with the grey and light blue may be based on the 1920's? Clearly and interestingly, the "Traditional Color Sets" seem to be based on the swatch from the 1910's which...

    Cyclop shutting down?

You are the MOST consistent, reliable, traditionalist on AZB by a WIDE margin! :-) While I generally agree with you that traditional is best, and I personally really like the maroon color and, of course, the orange 5 ball, the other sets are fun to switch out. I guess this is why ford no...

    Cyclop shutting down?

Interesting that you described these as "Easter Egg" colors. If I am thinking of the same set, we have a Dynaspheres Tungsten set and my daughter, upon seeing them for the first time, said, "Oh wow, those look very "Art Deco" or mid 1920's." Since she is my daughter, she is right and you are...

Anyone else ever pull out an old cue, play great with it, and suddenly doubt which is your favorite?

I own 2 players. One 13mm maple and 1 12.2mm graphite. I swap them out every once in a while and find I play about the same. The 13mm is more forgiving but the 12.2 seems to do much better with ball control IMHO.

    Pool fads?

B But depending on the style you choose, Dynaspheres run from $100 for their classic Bronze set to nearly $400 for their high style sets with extra cue ball etc. Cyclop Hyperion with 3 extra money balls and extra cue ball was certainly high end like that and thus the premium price. What...

    Pool fads?

Agreed, but I can't help but wonder if that is why the brand no longer exists and the name was changed to Dynaspheres (which are absolutely great by the way)

    Pool fads?

Cyclop balls had some really significant quality problems early on. Balls literally cracked in half.

Which one for Diamond ball polisher?

This was also my experience using it in my polisher. The home made mixture I described above leaves absolutely nothing ON the ball. They just come out polished and clean. In Dr. Dave's videos, the plain alcohol seems to be a little "grabby" or has a little more throw but it is very minimal...

Which one for Diamond ball polisher?

Especially if you already have a bottle of aramith cleaner around. I started with a $1.00 spray bottle from walmart, but it clogged and leaked. I found this one on Amazon at the recommendation of a friend here on the boards It is REALLY top quality and never leaks or clogs...

Which one for Diamond ball polisher?

I have found the mixture of 1 to 1.5 tbsp Aramith cleaner mixed with 1 cup of 91% isopropyl alcohol sprayed in while my cleaner is running produces consistent, high polish results. I had never heard of this but it was included in the instructions for my machine. Truly an amazing product...

    Phenolic Break Tip Question?

Thank you for this contribution. The tip was on the cue when I bought it. Probably going to look into a white diamond based on. Discussions here. Used an older cue w a milk dud as a break cue for years just to spare the wear on my playing cue. Once I actually got a break cue w a hard tip I...

    Phenolic Break Tip Question?

For super hard tips on a break cue, ( I have a Lucasi BBII w/ Phenolic tip ) what is the preferred shape of the tip? Also, what are the better ways and tools to shape these very hard tips? Should the tip be more flat? Nickel shape? Dime? What do you do? What do you like? Why? Thanks. I...

Hours, weeks, months, years, and I’m still lousy

We do get older. I have neuropathy from chemo 7 years ago resulting in unsteady hands. My eyes need an upgrade. Sadly, not only can I not really get better, I am slowly getting worse. Practice seems to slow the decline. Still, getting older doesn't decrease the enjoyment of playing the...
