Does the degree of difficulty really change ?

I picked it up from other players - maybe right here... I'm OK with "reverse" too (although "braking" seems more to the point). Sounds like situations where an "action specific" naming method (like the one I like) would work best. pj chgo

Does the degree of difficulty really change ?

And depending on the angle of approach to the rail. I like using the same terminology to describe the “rubbing dynamic” and just specify which is being hit: for instance, “outside/running on the ball” and “inside/braking on the rail”. pj chgo

Does the degree of difficulty really change ?

So… Running applies to rail only Outside applies to ball only - even though they’re the same surface-to-surface rubbing dynamic? pj chgo

Does the degree of difficulty really change ?

The simplest definition for me is inside/braking slows the CB and outside/running doesn't, whether hitting an OB or a rail. pj chgo

Does the degree of difficulty really change ?

Sorry, running English is right side spin in this case (the kind that makes the CB "roll across" the OB's surface). pj chgo

Does the degree of difficulty really change ?

    - Aim the shot with no side spin (centerball) - Visualize the ball/ball contact point (or cushion/ball contact point for a kick, as shown in the illustration) - Visualize the point on the cue ball directly opposite the ball/ball or ball/cushion contact point ("perpendicular offset" in the...

Does the degree of difficulty really change ?

"Natural running" or "gearing" English means the cue ball rolls across the object ball's surface without any sliding, which is only physically possible with outside spin. pj chgo

Does the degree of difficulty really change ?

It's more difficult with the spin you've practiced least. Neither kind is inherently more or less difficult than the other. But there is a "tip placement system" for "gearing outside spin" ("natural running english"), which can make applying the right amount of spin easier (but not the...

And also minimum “twist” (transferred spin), supporting Bob’s statement: no throw = no “twist”. They’re both produced by the same force. pj chgo

Any videos of Dr Dave in an actual match?

Right - he didn't devote his life to it, so we don't know how well he'd play if he had. And that doesn't diminish the value of his information, even to top pros. pj chgo

Any videos of Dr Dave in an actual match?

No pro player was ever a 650? I think there's some logic missing from that. pj chgo

Any videos of Dr Dave in an actual match?

I have no doubt that you could be a top player if you devoted your life to it like all top players do. But then we wouldn't reap the rewards that we do for your choice (thanks again). In fact, I'm sure there are plenty of top players who know of your stuff and are better for it - I know I am...

Any videos of Dr Dave in an actual match?

Do you think any player would improve that much without knowing at least some of what an instructor teaches? pj chgo P.S. I met and played with Dave several years ago in Colorado. He can play - and he knows (and can teach) his stuff.
