Converting GC IV from drop pocket to ball return where do i find the parts?

Classic Billiards is a very good site. There is a chance that the GC lV parts may not be available to convert. There weren't too many ball return models manufactured. Brunswick started getting cheap with their product beginning with the GC lll and really carried over to the lV.

Won't be coming back to BCA vegas for a while

I haven't played BCA for awhile and when I did the Rio Hotel was a good venue. I think the problem might be there are less good events for "skilled players." The lack of players entering those higher skilled events brings the prize pool down in my opinion. When you have only a hundred or so...

I am looking for partial or complete sets of used Centenial Balls. I need the following: One ball, four ball, eight and nine balls or complete sets.

Gold Crown time capsule - part 2

The Gold Crown era of the late 50's and early 60's is an excellent example of function and beauty. Little is known about who authored the design process that Brunswick came up with for their Gold Crown tables and accessories. Brunswick's design was modeled after an art form known as Googie Art...

Tacoma Whitey Micheals, Please post photo's or any stories about him

I don't wish to comment on how Whitey died as that can be left for others to write about. He was a friend. I first met him on one of my first road trips to the Tacoma/Seattle area in 1968. I went to his Pool Hall upstairs in Tacoma where he preceded to take my cash giving me 9/7 in One Pocket...

Jay Helfert says 'Every other day to keep your speed up'...

I think that if your game is on the improve, you need to play every day and settle into a practicing groove that works for you. If you are in the maintenance mode and want to retain skills then every other day will work. Lastly, if I'm getting to play a tournament or gamble some then I practice...

Why is it so difficult to install Simonis?

I opened my own room 25 years ago and after the initial installation I had trouble getting table mechanics to do a credible job. So, I just started doing it myself. I made many mistakes and don't pretend to be a great mechanic but if the tables are level, the rubber in decent shape and you know...

    Luther Lasiter's Cue

I don't know anything about the cues Luther had or what happened to them but in a conversation with him at the ELKS CLUB 14.1 Championships in LA in 1972 he told me the glare off the white ferrule was starting to bother him. He said he either had to change the coloration or wear a visor to cut...

2017's 'West Coast Swing' of pool: Now Taking Entries!

Nice post Daniel. Do you know what the start time is for the One Pocket Event on July 5th? Personally I usually spend the day with the family and do the fireworks stuff and if the start time is early, I may have to drive up after all the cherry bombs go off.

    Tony Chohan vs Dennis Orcullo

One Pocket is about the match up and in the end the skilled player usually wins. Tony is very hard to match up against. His shot selection is unique and he will shoot for his hole. Scott didn't shoot at his hole when he played Dennis and gave away many games that he shouldn't have lost. That's...

    Tony Chohan vs Dennis Orcullo

For those who think Dennis is the nuts, let me say that in One Pocket the style you play has a lot to do with the outcome. These two have very similar styles. They are like boxers who like to throw punches and also to get punched to find out if they can "take the punch." Tony will absolutely...

Best up and coming cue makers to invest your money into?

I talked with Tim Padgett the other day and he may start making cues again. I hope he does as his cues are "Top Shelf."

    Brunswick Centennial Balls

Usually those older sets have problems. It is usually the one ball that takes a beating the most especially if the set was used in a Pool Room. I wouldn't pay that much for them as there are often sets available on our site here at AZB.

Best Black Players Of All Time

I was glad to see Rags Woods name mentioned in the previous threads. Of all the Black Players very few could beat him in 14.1. Probably only Ciscero and James Evans. He's the only Black Player to make it on Wide World of Sports on National TV. James Brown AKA Youngblood is only 66 years old and...

    John Morra announces hiatus

Career and family in the works? Possibly he just realized its time to move on. Look there were a lot of great players who had careers outside of pool. I expect hime to come back from time to time. He's the right age to move on, any later might be a problem for him. Good choice John. For whatever...

    Golden Cue Billiards, CA

I knew Kenny from 1966 when we first fired one liners at each other trying to match up. We became friends over time and still competed playing one pocket. He ran a great room with prices very favorable to pool players. LA pool will not be the same without him and the Golden Cue. RIP Kenny........

    Ronnie Allen story

Ronnie played great and in his prime could beat anyone playing one pocket. I watched him play a lot in the LA area in the 60's and 70's but many of his matches were head scratchers. He lost games where he looked like the nuts on paper and won matches where he was a big underdog. Go figure...

If I was Mark Wilson... (mosconi strategy)

In order for the USA to be in the match, Shane HAS to get out of the gate strong. If he does then we'll have a shot. He sets the tempo and mood of the team, period. I don't pretend to know how this is to be accomplished but somehow he has to come through. He is a notorious slow starter and this...

How did Cliff Joyner fall off the 1-pkt map?

There's a lot to say about how good a player Cliff is in One Pocket. Right now he just hasn't beat any top player for the cash in a while. I'm not sure why but I don't think its related to age. He did develop a severe hitch in his stroke kinda like putters yups in golf. I would say that he'll be...

Oscar Left Out of Mosconi Cup... Again

I'm not knocking the Justin pick but there are some issues to talk about. Remember Justin is a Saint Louis resident and so is Mark Wilson. I think west coast pool might have been shortchanged and Justin just plays more big matches which are streamed and Oscar doesn't. Justin plays more in the...
