    Fargo rated tournaments.

Tonight I played in my first Fargo reporting tournament and I realize that 200 games are needed to establish a true rating. My question is this - can I still play in Fargo sanctioned tournaments even though I am at beginner rating? I don't shoot league anymore but plan to start shooting in a...

Joe Porper was inducted into the International Cuemakers Hall of Fame.

I still have and use my brown Porper 2x2 that I purchased when I bought my Meucci.

    Ultraskin comparison.

Has anyone tried all 3 of the Ultraskin styles? I have the Ivory Medium on my regular player and really like the results so far, but am wondering how the Fire Medium compares to it? I have a Black Medium on my cheap break cue and am getting good action from the cue ball with it. I have a Black...

    Campion or Crown?

I did find the slip of paper that I had with the tips I found in my billiards box and there was a few tips mentioned... Elk master, LePro, Eureka, Champion, and Chandivert. The only ones left are 3 LePro, an Elk master, and the Champion with the red pad.

    Campion or Crown?

Going through my pool supplies from the 90's I came across 3 LePro tips and either a Champion or Crown?? It has a red pad on the bottom and the pad itself has two little holes in it. Any help identifying appreciated.

Curious about the value of my Meucci cue.

I believe the Meucci I have was made in the mid or late1990's ?? It is the 97-11 and has a Rainbow stained birdseye maple forearm. It was made for and sold through Mueller Pool and Darts catalog. It is similar to the HOF 1 but is a bright Rainbow stained instead of grey stained. Any idea what...

Your thoughts on outrageous cue prices

After encouragement from someone here and some consideration I will just be purchasing an extra shaft for The Meucci that I have.

    Working with tips

For many years I used Elkmaster tips. I never used layered tips until recently.

    Working with tips

Delamination of a layered tip can happen if the tip is overheated when turning it down on a lathe or from sanding and roughing the tip up from outside to center instead of the center towards the outside... just to name a couple.

    Working with tips

I have always gotten more spin from soft tips and had more miscues with hard tips. .🤷‍♂️ I will admit though that hard tips do increase ball speed.

    Working with tips

Years ago I used to buy Elkmaster tips and work them up with a pliers until they were spongy before putting them on my cue. They almost had the feel of using a rubber tip and the amount of spin I could produce on the cue ball was crazy... especially when doing masse shots.

    Enjoying my new tips.

Different types of leather, glue, and any other components involved will make a difference in how the tip responds at impact, which will determine how the cue ball reacts. If you have trouble understanding this concept perhaps you should look for a different hobby??

So the difference between a Moped and a Harley must just be in your mind as well?? They both have two wheels. lol

How many still have the first cue they ever bought?

I see none of the Eckes Magnum cues are shown. I owned one of those as well. They looked the same but said Magnum on the forearm.

    Cue replacement

Yes, I think you are correct and I will probably just get a second shaft for my Meucci. As far as the Schmelke, it is one that I have been seriously considering for a break/jump cue. :)

    Cue replacement

Sorry.. 1970's and not very straight anymore. As far as price range.... I'm retired and live on my SSI and have my Meucci for my main cue.

    Cue replacement

I have been looking at a couple different cues lately as I would like to replace my original cue from the 70's, and would also like to get a Break/Jump cue. I will probably purchase a cheaper McDermott to use as a backup/second cue that I can use for everyday play and keep my Meucci for...
