One thing to add: I asked about Master's Division, but never played. They play on small tables, as that's what happens in Vegas. It seems like in my favorite pool hall (half/half 7ft, 9ft) they prefer the small. Some nights they play on both. So, if you play one night, you don't know if 8 or 9...

Isn't BCA however the league wants to play? Where is this "one game per set" coming from? That does sound even worse than APA. Not every BCA league is like this, is it?

A tiered structure into regional / state / nationals, with top finishers of one year not having to qualify through the level below again would make this fairer to the ones qualifying through the lower tier. Also, if this would be more for the title than the money, so be it. Maybe FR should not...

This thread didn't really get derailed, but nobody tries to stop handicapped tournaments here or convince anybody to stop playing in those. I think those tiered open tournaments are a great idea, something what is missing in the US. They would fill a void.

on the other hand there are the ones who prefer open. In smaller numbers, sure. But if this is more about trophies, than the size of the pot. this might work and attract different players.

the reason I mentioned the BCA was, that an "ideal" national player's organization, would be able/willing to put those open state events up, without the pressure of financial return or minimum numbers of participation. They could start and try to grow this as it goes. I am very sure there are...

I like the idea. Other ideas: top finishers of state championships qualify for next year's without having to go through regionals again top finishers in state would qualify for nationals? state would not need to be free, if you ask me, but still, added money from regionals to state is nice

How would so much weight be added? There is an extension you can buy from jjcue which comes with three different bumpers. If none fits, a cuemaker can add a phenolic threat to your butt to match, if needed. They weigh almost nothing. The extension from flowers has the same thread. The other one...

Bob just answered that one already earlier: The Eurotour is organized by the EPBF, which there is no real equivalent here in the US.
