    Refinish question

(Med) is the viscosity or thickness of the super glue that is best used to fill in dents. There is Thin (almost like water and will penetrate wood deeply), Medium (the normal stuff), Thick (fills gaps), and Gel (commonly used for tips). Accelerator is a chemical that will set the superglue...

    Best cure light for Solarez?

I am looking into the UV finish for the shafts I make. I wonder how important it is to match the wavelength of the lamp to the wavelength of the finish. There is a 60W lamp on Amazon for around $35 but its wavelength is 405nm. I think Solarez is to thick to spray on.

    Refinish question

You can try super glue (med) and accelerator (if needed) to fill the dent in but it is hard to get a color match so it is totally invisible. You cant feel it but you still might see it.

DRO for the Porper lathe ...

Using two of the supplied brackets I mounted one on each end and mounted the scale on them. Had to drill and tap 2 1/4-20 holes to mount the brackets. The scale is moved by a long screw extending into a hole drilled into the bottom of the carriage. The scale is about .875" below the bottom of...

Tip Touch ... tip burnisher ...

It toughens up the raw exposed sideof the leather tip and provides a nice shine. Just an extra touch I like to do for my tip customers. Never did find any Joe Porper's Tip Touch and I thing it is no longer being made.

DRO for the Porper lathe ...

Amazon has a 2 axis DRO for under $200. I always wanted a DRO but most were expensive. Comes with a lot of mounting hardware and its fairly simple to do. Here are some photos showing how I installed it.

Tip Touch ... tip burnisher ...

Fiebings edge coat is a lot thicker and more like a coating. Tip Touch is thinner, more brownish in color, and penetrates quickly into the tip. It might be some formula using a bit of Fiebings edge coat ... cutting it with alcohol gets it very close.

Looking for a cuemaker for custom work....

To be quite honest with you Cychotron, I would leave the joint pins as they are unless there is something seriously wrong with them. Be advised that reducing the joint size (diameter) WILL change the way the cue feels and plays. Most likely it will loosen up the whole cue. Re-tapering the...

Tip Touch ... tip burnisher ...

I am about out of Porper's Tip Touch and can not find a supplier for it. Anyone know of a source? How about the Tip Crystal ... anyone used it? Its clear not colored.

Looking for a cuemaker for custom work....

You are looking for an advanced cue repair guy for sure. The shafts that are to thick at the base (I assume the joint) would need to be reduced in size. That will effect the hit and feel but can be done if so desired. The playing shaft would need to be re-tapered and as long as you are...

    Ebony finish question

WilleeCue wearing his Politically Correct and Liberal hat .... "Hey ... dont condemn ... that is the way the cue maker intended for the cue to look. Are we unable to see the beauty in this work of art? Would not you be more than happy to pay $800 for it and show it off to your friends?"

    Ebony finish question

Michael, I do admire your positive attitude toward cue making and cue makers. I understand that you do not want to offend anyone and that is a good way to be. But ... sometimes you just got to call a mistake for what it is. That cue has a mistake in its finish. I can see it and I am sure you do...

    BK3 white diamond tip

I kinda agree with Dave in as much as drilling a hole thru the tip and filling it with a rod would change the material from White Diamond to whatever the rod was made of at the center of the tip ... the main contact point. There are such things as a bad batch of glue also.

    A-joint problems

I agree with Michael ... wait till you got points to contend with. I am not talking floating CNC points ... they will stay even. But the sharp pointed spliced ones are a different story. Every time you reduce the diameter of the forearm you risk leaving the points uneven. There are tricks to...
