    Low cost CNC machine ...

I doubt that it is. OK for wood and perhaps fiberglass PC boards but metal ... I dont know. The 24vdc motor that comes with it will run about 12,000 rpm and may not have enough HP to cut metal other than engraving. If you upgraded the spindle and found the right cutting speed I guess it would...

    porper model B lathe

If you look at the bearings on the feed table you will see the steel rings that show that this is one of the last models made ... it has replaceable bearings on the feed table and the tailstock. ... older models did not have bearings. I don't know where the bearings could be bought if you ever...

    porper B and tooling

Cost over $4000 new ... but ... You can not buy a new one ... don't know if they will ever be for sale again. This is a deal with all the tooling and other parts.

    Cored fronts

No Mike, I know I am no Schon ... And I really intended my comment about you being a master as a complement and a sign of respect. I would be interested in hearing your take on how an off center core would effect the play of a cue. I have cored about 6 forearms in my time as a cue maker so I...

    Cored fronts

I had to make a copy of a forearm from a Schon cue that the owner smashed and when I seen the way the "A" joint pin was off center I was dumbfounded. From what I understand they use center-less sanders for the tapering of a butt and that could account for the off center pin. The cue hit and...

BEM - What to ask for?

Love that honey colored maple! its a personal preference but I like the look. Even prefer my shafts to be honey colored instead of the now popular white. I don't like staining my wood and prefer it natural ... but sometimes to get a certain effect it is required. Be sure to send your cue maker...

    Cored

Coring is a good thing as it adds stability to the cue but the downside is that it changes the way the wood reacts to striking the ball. Two identical cues made from the same wood but with one cored will hit and feel differently. Good, well seasoned wood should not warp under normal...

    Low cost CNC machine ...

It would require about 5 parts to extend the bed to any length. 2 bearing rods, one threaded drive rod, and the two side panels. Getting those parts of the correct size would be the problem. Some enterprising fella with a machine shop could make up an extension kit and sell it.

    Low cost CNC machine ...

Ron I think there are now 900mm long units that go for around $2500. Overpriced if you ask me ... $2000 more for an extended bed ???? Hopefully the price on them will drop as that would be long enough to taper shafts.

    Chipped varnish

Use a magnifying glass and a small brush. If you are sure it is varnish then use varnish to fill in the chip. If it is a very small chip use gap filling super glue and a tooth pick. If you can ... over fill slightly and when dry use some 600 grit and then some 1000 grit. If you have it even...

    Low cost CNC machine ...

Yes ... I dont write the G-code ... I use BobCad to generate it from the drawing. I know just enough about G-code to modify the file once BobCad has generated it. I am currently revising my CNC files to weed out the ones that might be to complexs for someone learning. Here is a photo of the...

    CNC spindel ... TaperShaper ...

One of the many other things you need to equip a CNC machine is a spindle that will preferably run close to 30,000 RPM. There are some choices on Ebay that are driven to 24,000 rpm using an inverter. Some are water cooled and some are air cooled. They are heavy motors and a bit to much (I think)...

Question about a spray booth ...

That would be a solution for cues I make but I do repair and refinishing also so I would need a holding system that is adaptable to ANY cue butt or shaft. When I decide on how to do that I will post some photos and share it.

    Low cost CNC machine ...

I see they are offering a 6090 machine for $2700. At 900mm travel they are getting close to tapering ability's. I would be relatively easy to extend the X axis travel of the $600 3040T machine. All you would need is 5 parts ... 2 new guide rods, 1 ball screw rod, and 2 side rails of the correct...

    Low cost CNC machine ...

I bought one of these "30X40 CNC machines" from ebay a few years ago and wanted to share the results with all you. These are under $600 for 4 axis model. (30x40 size) some even come with Mach3 software. A full size cue maker it is not as it wont taper shafts ... but it will travel over 12" on...

    Good lathe

My best advice to you is the FIRST thing you need to purchase is Chris Hightower's book on cue making. Then read it cover to cover. You will then have enough knowledge to make a very educated choice of equipment. His book will let you know what you are getting into and take you thru building a...

Question about a spray booth ...

I am building a new spray booth and have a question about how to hold and rotate the cue and shaft. What works best on the rotating center end to grip the cue you are spraying and rotate it. I plan on using something like Unique uses on their TaperShaper machine but am looking for other...

    Razor rests left

Oh ... now I get it. Boy am I getting slow in my old age. Razor rests ... should have gotten it from that clue. They are for shaping the tip with a blade. Cool ... Much better that what I am using now ... I want one. How about the right hand ... second one down. To whom do I paypal the $20...
