    Tip popping off

I have used the Loc-Tite gel for some time with great results. The only failures were with a red or black fiber pad installed. It might be possable for the leather to wick away some of the super glue gel as it is seting. Using some water thin super glue I pre-glue a layered tip, set it with...

    Laser Engraver and cutter ...

I think I ed somewhere on you tube that this tube was more like 40W at best. So far I have only ran it at 20% or about 10 watts. The Focal Length is determined by the lens you place in it. So far I have used the 3" FL lens but do have a 4" one I can install. There is a plastic window on the...

    Uni-loc pin thread size?

Like this one Joey? I agree ... have used it many times. Uni-lock inserts are less than $7.00 Its not about saving money I just wanted to play around with a Phenolic insert to check it out. Like you said ... there are only about 2.5 threads in the uni-lock pin and it is a bit hard to measure...

    Uni-loc pin thread size?

Michael, I came on here and asked a simple question. You answered but felt you had to belittle me a bit because you thought I did not search for such an answer in the archives. I did. Why do you feel the need to make others feel small and stupid? Then you asked me if I was drinking. I see you...

Michael ... you are questioning why I would want to make something? Why make anything? I could buy fully made cues from any online cue dealer and save a lot of time and money. But I still choose make them. If I need to justify my question then here is my answer. I want to make some inserts from...

Pads between ferrule and tip...when to install vs not install

The clear acrylic pad Under a Kaumi tip is all about looks. Just like inlays and fancy rings they add nothing to the play-ability but a lot of style if you like that type of thing. I have been installing red clear acrylic pads under tips for many years just to have a different look. I now offer...

Cue vibrates like a tuning fork.

True ... the force acting on the shaft from striking the cue ball will act as you say. However ... the spline of the shaft will flex easier in only one direction and will resist flexing in any other. With the spline in a random alignment the resistance to the flex will be lesser or greater thus...

Cue vibrates like a tuning fork.

You used the cue with the colored dot facing up. That way every shot had the shaft in the same position relative to the spline. Whatever deflection or bending the shaft did when it struck the cue ball it did it in the same direction every shot.

Cue vibrates like a tuning fork.

The shaft, having a spline will always flex in one direction easier that another direction. That is one of the things segmented and carbon fiber shafts try to eliminate. Bob felt that having the shaft deflect in the same direction for every shot would help with consistency. Whether or not that...

    1st threaded ferrule

I agree with Chris that a small tenon will work fine. I use that method with White Diamond tips to help stand up to any side force from a miscue on the break. The extra strength of that shoulder makes a difference. When replacing the tip how would you go about it knowing there was a small tenon...

    Southwest type cue

I would think any cue maker that has a CNC machine and access to a SouthWest shaft to measure could fix you up. To my knowledge a shaft profile is not something that can hold a patent. Its a given that that SouthWest Cues makes a top quality product. They have the resources, skills, equipment...

    Southwest type cue

Design aside ... wouldn't a shaft with the same profile as a SW attached to a similar butt (Sugartree?) play the same? Could anyone really tell the difference in a blind test? I think most people that buy Southwest cues buy them for reasons other than the way they feel and play.
