Aramith 100-Year Anniversary set - now an AAR thread

For now, I have no plans to even remove the sealed plastic from the outside of the box. I’m a bit curious from your comments but not worried about it. I have virtually mint condition sets of Aramith Tournament as well as Brunswick Centennial balls which in my opinion look far better than this...

Aramith 100-Year Anniversary set - now an AAR thread

That’s strange, because I just shaked my white still plastic sealed box and there seemed to be virtually no movement / shifting / noise at all from the balls or from the wooden box. They seem to be quite secure.

Thoughts on the best way to remove tension when shooting in league/tournaments?

Play in as many tournament matches as you possibly can, and maintain the exact same routine and tempo in your tournament matches as you do when you are practicing by yourself. There are no magical cures, you just have to pay your dues and learn from all your experiences, good and bad.

Aramith 100-Year Anniversary set - now an AAR thread

So are you saying there is not any cushioning in the box to separate and protect the balls from each other as well as protecting them from the wooden box itself? Most all Aramith balls I’ve ever ordered come in a 16 section plastic eggshell inside the box which separates them from each other.

High Running Your Age in 14.1 for Seniors 60+

Yes, most of us 14.1 players who when practicing solo, automatically re-rack and start over with a set up break shot after we miss. We never know when that elusive magical run might happen and we need to know exactly how many!

Aramith 100-Year Anniversary set - now an AAR thread

You were smart to refuse them and take photos. Hopefully you will pick up your new sealed set very soon, and if you do open them, you can report back to us as to how they appear in comparison to the tampered set you were originally offered.

Aramith 100-Year Anniversary set - now an AAR thread

In your original post, I thought you said you refused these balls, but if you are going to take photos of them, I assumed you have taken possession of them? If so, I definitely would not use them until you get this resolved. If you did accept them, I would simply take them back and exchange...

Aramith 100-Year Anniversary set - now an AAR thread

If they were not sealed when they were delivered to you, they should have been, mine were. I would’ve asked the dealer why they were unsealed and if they had been used? Hopefully he will be honest with you. You made the correct decision by not accepting and not paying for them. Any premium...

High Running Your Age in 14.1 for Seniors 60+

You must have had a strong defensive game!

High Running Your Age in 14.1 for Seniors 60+

Bob, very impressive! Myself and I’m sure others here would love to hear more details of your SVB match - the score, your high run, his high run, etc.?

High Running Your Age in 14.1 for Seniors 60+

No, that’s too much trouble. I see no reason for anyone here to embellish. I had a run of 98 when I was in my 40s, but those days are long gone. Now it seems running 2 racks is very rare. I ran 110 a few years ago on a 7’ Diamond, but that can’t in any way compare to a run on a 9’ table...

    Best Value Aramith Pool Balls

Aramith Tournament, preferably not the TV colors. In my opinion, they are easily the best looking of the entire Aramith line.

    Free Pool in Charlotte

If the owner was a pool player he/she would have Diamonds or Gold Crowns and wouldn’t give it away. If he/she was a business man they’d have a food operation. This is basically a bar that will make all their $ on alcohol sales. Mixing free pool with that is just asking for issues unless it is...

High Running Your Age in 14.1 for Seniors 60+

Is there any interest on here for starting a list of senior players 60+ years old, who have run their age or more in 14.1 - How high that run is and who is the oldest to have done it? I think it needs to be accomplished on a 9 foot table. It doesn’t matter if it’s in a match or a solo practice...

Aramith Limited Edition 100’s - Use Them or Save Them?

I guess one reason I haven’t opened them is that I don’t really like the looks of them, so I figure if still new and unopened, it might be easier to unload them for a small $ profit over the dealer price I paid for them.

Mighty x drill leaving mark on cloth

I assume the Simonis 860 HR (high resistance) cloth is supposed to be less likely to leave burn marks? That’s the cloth we’ve been using here for years, but I don’t know how it compares to regular 860 for burn marks unless you have both blends on two different tables and compare. I do know that...

Aramith Limited Edition 100’s - Use Them or Save Them?

Last year I ordered and received a boxed set of the Aramith 100 limited edition ball sets. I have them still sealed and unopened as they came. I didn’t need them, but ordered them on the hunch that they might someday be worth something. Just curious as to opinions from any collectors on here...

    Free Pool in Charlotte

My first impression- good luck, but they’ll have issues to deal with giving away free pool, not having any food and allowing customers to bring in outside food. Those furniture style tables won’t hold up for very long with patrons drinking alcohol, and it’s a little strange looking having 4...

Games other than pool in pool halls

Darts and any board games are fine, but Ping pong, foosball, air hockey and pinball all make way too much noise to be together in any serious pool room, so they need to be in separate rooms, especially ping pong which needs its own private room.

Home Room Size for 9' Table

15’ x 19’ room dimensions gives you just enough room for a 9’ table for no obstructions and to place chairs in the 4 corners, assuming no cue extensions of more than 2”. 15’ x 22’ would allow you enough room to place chairs / seating / cooler / bar, etc along one of the end walls and still...
