Mark Wilson - CB or OB Last - Age Old Issue

Update - I’ve given up again on this cue ball last experiment after 2 days. Maybe it would work on a bar table, but not on a big table, at least not for me!

They only come in 9mm and 10mm, so for snooker cues only?

Welcome to Gestapo Billiards. Have a good time.

Yes, it’s excellent, but at that length would have to be a poster. The problem with the $100 / stain rule is the stain is usually not discovered until long after the customer has left. As for tears in the cloth, that’s pretty rare and hard to do in a well maintained pool room, as long as the...

    spectator input

As you stated in the last sentence of your first paragraph, you are one of those players in the match, so knowing it might possibly be a close call, you should have asked in advance for the shot to be judged and not wait for your opponent to ask. However, that said, if your opponent was not...

Welcome to Gestapo Billiards. Have a good time.

I don’t have a problem with all of these posted rules, but the larger font line underneath was not necessary.

Welcome to Gestapo Billiards. Have a good time.

For many guys, how hard you can break the balls seems to be masculinity pride thing, much like how far you can hit a golf ball is for golfers, regardless of how little control you have and where the ball may actually end up.

Welcome to Gestapo Billiards. Have a good time.

That is exactly right. Some of us are not in a position to be able to pick and choose and educate all our customers to take care of our tables and equipment the same way that I would. It’s just not realistic, and I simply can’t afford to turn off half of our clientele.

Getting back into pool after surgery

Any doctor will tell you a dislocated shoulder needs to stay in a sling 24/7 for 3-4 weeks followed by isometric shoulder exercises. Even a subluxation (pops out and back in immediately) requires 2+ weeks in a sling. Stretching it out too soon by playing pool (a left shoulder for a right...

Getting back into pool after surgery

I had left total shoulder replacement surgery 8 years ago. I play pool right handed so that is the shoulder I have to stretch out to play pool. Based on how your exercises and range of motion are going, you’ll gradually start getting back in to shooting some, but just make sure to take it...

    WTB: Mezz EX PRO Shaft

Is 5/16 x 14 the standard Mezz United joint? I have some, 29 inches and 30 inches, used in excellent condition, with Zan medium tips, but will not sell for less than $300 + shipping.

If so, I need to stock up on their Samsara break tips, which to me is the best break tip on the market.

    Least favorite cue ball

Some people rave about the Brunswick Blue Circle Centennial cue ball, but it retains chalk marks worse than any premium cue ball out there, unless they have changed it. And for all the negative things numerous people have to say about the Aramith Red Circle, it is the easiest to keep clean of...

Welcome to Gestapo Billiards. Have a good time.

Our family friendly non alcohol poolroom I realize is likely an exception. 90+% of our players are beginner / recreational level, yet we have top notch well maintained tables, so we also attract serious players who appreciate playing on well maintained equipment. To expect that these...

Welcome to Gestapo Billiards. Have a good time.

Surprised that with all these rules, this room apparently permits legal jump shots? As a room owner myself, I respect the intent behind many of these rules, but wouldn’t want to enforce or post them, no matter how pristine we try to keep our tables / cloth / equipment / facility. My preferred...

    Extension length preference

11” gets you maximum stretch, if you dislike using a bridge whenever possible. Even on shots you don’t need the 11”, there’s no downside.

Mark Wilson - CB or OB Last - Age Old Issue

For myself, the bottom line is that focusing my eyes on the cue ball last through the entirety of the stroke is the only way I can confirm positively that I’m striking the cue ball precisely where I plan to, as well as confirming that I’m stroking the cue straight back and straight through the...

    Anyone bought the aramith 100's?

From Iwan Simonis in IL, who is a US Aramith distributor. We’ve been buying cloth from them for 27 years for our poolroom so we have a wholesale account with Simonis / Aramith. I’m not sure how many years Simonis has been a distributor for Aramith. I’ve had an order in for this set for...

    Anyone bought the aramith 100's?

Update - I received my boxed set of Aramith 100’s today. They were packed / shipped amazingly secure from Simonis. As they are sealed in plastic and I’m not sure yet if I’m going to keep or sell them, I’m not breaking the seal on the plastic at this time - sorry!

    Anyone bought the aramith 100's?

I’m not planning to use them, but I’ll be glad to provide you with my first impression opinion as to how they look compared to the Aramith Tournament balls and the Brunswick Centennial balls. From what I’ve seen, I don’t believe I’m going to like the looks of them as much as either of the above...
