    What shaft?

Switching to any different shaft will require an adjustment period. Any skilled and experienced player will be able to make that adjustment. Whether you might possibly see an improvement in your play by making that shaft change you will only know by trial and error, but if you constantly keep...

Please help with my tip issue.

After getting the shafts back, I assume you had a talk with your friend to see if he could make the necessary alterations to get your tips how you requested? That would be a reasonable request and it seems to me that would be the first logical step. Did I miss something in your original post...

Newly covered table has a gotten a cloth blemish. Any way to prevent from getting worse?

Yes, there are safer alternatives, such as good quality fingernail clippers or an electric razor.

quick question for you all about draw shots

On a virtually straight shot when applying draw, the CB might not always come back straight towards your cue, even if you pocket the ball, as you may have pocketed the ball in one side or the other of the pocket, causing the CB to draw back off-line. That can be even more exaggerated if there is...

Newly covered table has a gotten a cloth blemish. Any way to prevent from getting worse?

That is more than just an imperfection in your cloth and newly installed Simonis would not have an imperfection such as that. If it had that on it when installed, I would request a replacement piece, although even if whoever you purchased the cloth from might provide a replacement piece, I...

    C J Wiley

Maybe so, but at age 60+ I’d say CJ shoots better than many of those HOF players did at age 60.

How To Get A Really Good Player

Natural talent and starting at a very young age really helps. And when you say practice a lot you need to understand that unless you are extremely talented, that means a minimum of like 30+ hours a week for 10+ years - nearly the equivalent of a full time job.

Tight 4.5 Inch Pockets Vs Loose 4.5 Inch Pockets

Tightening up pockets Tightening the pockets up by lengthening the subrails and cushion rubbers will automatically decrease the depth of the pocket shelf, so tables with pockets tightened up to 4” will always have very shallow pocket shelfs.

Is Now the right time to open a pool hall

It’s a lifestyle choice if you like being around the game and can afford it, but most likely your servers will make more $$ than you will.

Would you buy an Olhausen pool table?

Decent table for a home table, but can’t compare to a Gold Crown. If $ isn’t the issue, I would hold out for a nice used 9’ Gold Crown.

Tight 4.5 Inch Pockets Vs Loose 4.5 Inch Pockets

The pocket facing angle (PFA) can make a huge difference even if two tables have the same pocket mouth measurements. A 140° PFA 4-1/2” pocket will play way more forgiving than a 143° PFA 4-1/2” pocket.

Jayson Shaw’s 832 World Record is Official

Cheating the pocket as well as finding and executing locked combo/carom pack shots gets way tougher on 4-1/2” pockets.

Anyone bring their own chairs to the pool hall?

For us older guys with knee issues, the higher sitting chairs are a must! The biggest issue as a room owner with players who might bring their own chairs is whether there is room to place the chair near their table but in a location that will be out of the way of that table as well as other...

Jayson Shaw’s 832 World Record is Official

To take nothing away from his record accomplishment, I think a lot of us would like to see how many balls Jayson could run on a standard 4-1/2” Diamond after attempting for a few days in comparison to his 832 on 5” pockets. My guess would be likely less than 400. That 1/2” makes an absolutely...

Is Jayson Shaw a future hall of famer?

Stu, with your knowledge, it makes no sense to me that you would not get a vote. That needs to change!

Jayson Shaw’s 832 World Record is Official

I don’t know if any player has the perseverance or stamina to match Jayson’s. It would have to be a very fast paced player like Filler.

The key here is getting the right shape on the 5 so you can play shape to not leave too much angle on the 6, otherwise the 6/7 could get tricky. I’m not crazy about playing shape for the 4 to a corner pocket that is 8 feet away especially if it’s worn cloth making the corner pockets play...

    Savannah's home table?

Savannah may barely be in the world top 100 currently, but in the 1970s and 1980s when Jean and Loree Jon dominated, there were likely no more than 10 or so female pros that were better then than Savannah is now at age 15. Even in her prime, there is no way Jean would be nearly as dominant when...

Beginner player looking for some insight

No disrespect, but your having played pool for 10 years is certainly not the definition of a beginner in my mind, so the title of your thread is quite misleading. You clearly have skills well beyond the level of a beginner, even if you are relatively new to 14.1.
