For me, a break shaft needs to be stiff, strong and heavy .. You will have your choice of several good shafts. What really makes the difference to me is cue ball control, and as far as I can tell the tip has far more to do with that than the shaft. Three years ago I bought a new breaker...

The wrap is 100% subjective .. different strokes for different folks. But there is one big functional difference .. you will never wear out the wrap on a wrapless cue. A wrapless butt is easier to live with as well, wipe it down and put it away - no worries about messing up the wrap. Good luck.
