Why Pool Leagues Should Embrace “ALL BALL FOULS”

Bastard! I've played for over 55 years. To a lowest hcp index of 4.8, and I've never had one. 😑 I hate you! 😁

    Flora -Bama action

You just made my call list the next time I'm up that way. 👍 The bait and gas is on me for fishing. You'll have to earn it on the pool table, but that probably won't be all that tough either... 😁

Why Pool Leagues Should Embrace “ALL BALL FOULS”

Sure. And you can play "baseball" without someone pitching the ball to you too... Again, I don't care. But don't expect others to be impressed by your great batting average. 😁

Why Pool Leagues Should Embrace “ALL BALL FOULS”

First of all, that ball on the tee isn't in play at the time you bump it. The balls on the pool table are... Second, it's irrelevant. Different games have different rules. In both pool and golf, the rules tell us how that situation is treated in each game.

Why Pool Leagues Should Embrace “ALL BALL FOULS”

We're talking about simple rules that people know, but choose to ignore. Do you play the ball as it lies, or do you roll it out of that damn divot? Do you count all your strokes? Do you take that long, painful walk back to your previous shot if you lose your ball? In other words, do you...

Why Pool Leagues Should Embrace “ALL BALL FOULS”

True. But we're talking about intentionally ignoring the rules that are easily understood. Play the ball as it lies. Lost ball? Stroke and distance. Putt 'em out... And by the way, there's an app for that too... 😁

He's having fun. And if he wants to call it baseball, hell nobody cares...but games have rules. If you're not playing by the rules, by definition, you're not playing the game. Here's a secret. It's no less fun to play by the rules. Maybe even more so. 😊

You're playing a game that you enjoy. Good for you. I mean that genuinely. But it's not golf.

Why Pool Leagues Should Embrace “ALL BALL FOULS”

Games have rules. No? The rules don't exist to punish or reward. They don't exist to help or to hinder. They simply exist to tell us how to play the game. They're written to ensure that when different players encounter the same situation, they're able to respond in the same way...

Why Pool Leagues Should Embrace “ALL BALL FOULS”

The point is, the rules of the game have never stopped someone from playing the game. People try to make the same argument in golf with respect to playing the ball as it lies. If you tell new players the rules, they'll play by the rules.
