Why Pool Leagues Should Embrace “ALL BALL FOULS”

So if I play a lock up safety on you all you have to do to give that result back to me is "accidentally" touch another ball?

Littman Lights... are they worth it?

Don't hate, but it's gonna be a 7' Diamond. That's what we have room for and what we play on 95% of the time for league or tournaments, so...

Littman Lights... are they worth it?

No experience with Littman, but fwiw we're in the very early stages of a remodel to add a pool table. A close friend has this that we're leaning towards. https://perimeterbilliardlights.com/ I like that it's dimmable and that the color/temperature is changeable. Something not all others...

A simple answer to the APA/BCA Amateur League dilemma

I assume that by "full size" tables you mean 9' tables? The answer is easy. Because there aren't enough in enough rooms to support the number of players to make the league(s) profitable/viable...

Why Pool Leagues Should Embrace “ALL BALL FOULS”

And who defines a "lot" or a "little"... Another golf example... A lot of people want to change the rules of golf to allow a player to move the ball out of a divot rather than playing it as it lies. The problem lies in that nobody can define the exact point in time when a divot has grown in...

Why Pool Leagues Should Embrace “ALL BALL FOULS”

Even so, it's the rules that specify when certain, specific local changes are authorized... Within the rules. Not just because...

Why Pool Leagues Should Embrace “ALL BALL FOULS”

Meh. Unless the "rules" somehow favor one opponent over another, that argument doesn't seem to be valid...

Why Pool Leagues Should Embrace “ALL BALL FOULS”

But why? If newer players aren't taught that there's an option, they won't even care... Just play by the rules. It's no harder than making up a different set of rules to play by...

Why Pool Leagues Should Embrace “ALL BALL FOULS”

Not really. For the most part, the rules are the rules. There are a very few exceptions and local rules that are implemented, but they aren't significant enough to change the game, and they only apply at the very highest level and only at a specific venue. Of course, like any game, gamblers...

Why Pool Leagues Should Embrace “ALL BALL FOULS”

Golf is just like pool. You play against someone else, or in a league match, or a tournament. Always with at least a little sumpin' on the line... I've played close to 60 years and can count the number of times I've "played myself" on one hand and have fingers left over...

Why Pool Leagues Should Embrace “ALL BALL FOULS”

So let's think golf. No refs there. The rules are the rules. Nobody, on their first day playing golf ever said I'm not gonna play this game if I have to count every time I swing at the ball. Here's how the game is played. Let's play!

    WWYD if Earl

I probably pull that back under the 9. Come down the line for the 6. Regardless, I'd punch one of my 500 bangers in the throat over that shot!

Why Pool Leagues Should Embrace “ALL BALL FOULS”

Did anyone in an old guys softball league ever quit because they had to run around 4 bases instead of just 3? Teach them the rules as they exist, and move on....

Why Pool Leagues Should Embrace “ALL BALL FOULS”

One of the things I like about golf is that there's no bifurcation of the rules. With the exception of a very few minor local rules, the guys we see playing on TV on Sunday afternoon play by the exact same rules you and I do in our Saturday four ball... Apples to apples.

Why Pool Leagues Should Embrace “ALL BALL FOULS”

I watched it and while I don't disagree, I think that too many TD's are afraid of scaring people off. People forget. The rules don't exist to help, or to punish. They're just there to tell us how to play the damn game. Nobody has ever said that they don't want to play baseball because they...
