Ive played on a 4" Diamond and it was honestly unplayable when it's worn out. It just rejects everything, even well hit balls.
When it's clean and the cloth is in good shape it does play sweet.
I have no insights, however those "created/reworked" pockets/slate cuts look hacked up for sure. Interested in seeing who may know more about your table though.
Zan Medium best I've used. Lasts longer, holds chalk great, doesn't shroom.
And I've tried another of rips. From Elkmaster to Kamui on price range and everything in between. Sticking with the Zan.
I try, and I can't emphasize that word enough, to hit firmer with focus on center ball on iffy/springy/humid, etc tables. Sometimes successfully, other times not.
Ballpark is $1500 with new cushions and subrail mod, tightening to your desired pocket opening. Plus shipping to GA. Well worth it. If a top mechanic does the work, it'll spoil you no doubt.
For reference I drove 10 hours round trip to get my GC4 and paid $2200.
Repaired the stretcher between the pedestals and sent the top to Mark Gregory for new cushions, angles and tightened pockets.
It does play quite well and I have no issue going between this GC4 and a Blue Label.
I was in...
I installed a MrCool 18k btu in my 20x20 outbuilding. Slab floor, insulated walls and ceilings. Added a dehumidifier and keeps it under 40% humidity and a very comfortable all year.
One of the best purchases I've made so far is the dual platter machine.
I figure cleaning even for just 10 minutes, once a week, every week, would be 8 hours per year of cleaning.
I'll turn the dial and save the time lol.
They are very nice fwiw.
