    Sold Older Schon STL-6

Older Schon stl 6. Cue was a player and shows some cosmetic blemishes. Butt has some lift at the joint. Newer (12.4) shaft has some tape roll. There is movement when rolled with either shaft. To me the cue plays fine. I don’t know if the wrap is original, but it looks like Schon’s work...

    Stolen cue

The pictures are from cornerstone... Why would showing pictures ripped from the internet be enough to make someone hand-over a cue? Call the local police; make sure you have your bill of sale from Grassley. ;) Honestly, this story, so far, stinks like sh*t, and it seems more likely that...

Selection of quality vintage “mystery” cues

The center section of my cue seems like a different material than the top and bottom. I can’t really tell what’s going on. There may be a clear window with expanded plastic inside.

Selection of quality vintage “mystery” cues

I believe #3 is a 60’s Doc Frye, and, I do believe it was made for Luther Lassiter. Besides the name, the matte-black ferrule and joint seem right considering Lassiter’s problems with glare and reflections and his overall dislike of a white ferrule. I had never considered that Lassiter may...

    Doc Frye and Balabushka connection

I just spoke to the owner of the cue, who provided the cue’s full history, and it’s exactly what it’s supposed to be: A Bushka/Frye that’s build was coordinated by a mutual friend.

    Doc Frye and Balabushka connection

Well, I don’t know who’s cue that was in the pictures, but based on that line-up, they definitely know a lot more about cues than me, and, if they said it’s a Balabushka/Frye, I’m not going to question it.

    Doc Frye and Balabushka connection

Thinking more about this, I imagine that the cue was started by Balabushka and finished by Frye. The penny date is the year Balabushka passed. If that’s the case, it would be interesting to know how and why Frye got this cue to finish and if the work was done posthumously.
