  2. Rusty in Montana

Great quote that lots of players need to read in an effort to speed up the game.

Or jumping up while the cue ball is just starting to roll away from the cue tip and they let out a bellowing scream of how could I miss such a easy shot ! From the top of their lungs ha ha Then they stagger around like a drunken sailor on a 10 day leave !

Why some pine trees spin ? I haven't a clue but a friend of mine who builds log cabins won't use a twisted grained log , just like farmers & ranchers won't use wood fence posts that are split or cracked as they claim they'll rot faster than others . The bark even shows it's got a twist to it...

Bull pine trees can have a bunch of knots to make it tough to split , some of it can have a twist to the wood grain which doesn't make it split or make planks or lumber with a saw mill . Ashen or poplar trees are easy to split but make a lot of ash with very little heat or btu's cottonwood...

But a person can do well once the outside temp drops down close to -40 below zero ! Any time above freezing it can be stringy and difficult to split since it's similar to a sponge for holding water & not drying out very well .

    Traveling with your cue

Plano is good quality but I and a few of my friends are Pelican fans , my suitcase is made by them that was good enough for a few trips to and from the sand box not during the time I've owned it but a friend of mine who was active Army National Guard . The only downside is they're heavy .

Something You Would Never Say Out Loud

A favorite saying between a longtime pool playing buddy of mine and I after either of us missed a relatively easy shot because we hit the cue ball to hard was " Slam it Soft " we now live in different parts of Mt but I still hear him tell me that subconsciously when I do just that and miss a...

Very true Sheldon , I'll never forget Frank telling me that playing someone who tries to run around the table shooting fast and loose chances are you'll beat them as snooker than later they'll miss giving you a chance to win or you're slower pace playing with take them away from them playing...

This certainly beats the old log splitter I've got all to death , I have to wonder how it would work with damp cottonwood logs that are 3' - 4' across ha ha The one thing about it dealing with firewood keeps you in shape and warm !

Yes he did , we were hunting partners for quite some time . Until I quit playing pool , I decided that I needed to be a dad for my kids and not spend as much time as I once did in either bars or the Corner Pockets in either Hardin , Billings and Sheridan Wyo .

Great quote that lots of players need to read in an effort to speed up the game.

Another historically slow player was Frank McGown when playing 14.1 or even 8 ball . I'll admit I did see him bring it up another gear from time to time but not very often . Yes I still miss my friend , rest well Frank !

    Snow, chili, bourbon, cigars, pool................

It was a fun tournament , my partner and I did well and went through the winners bracket undefeated , the forever and a day wait got us , and we ended up winning 2 nd place or the first looters some may say . But it was fun and I left with more money than I got there with so that's a win in my...

Island Drive , In Butte Mt there was a high altitude training facility for speed skating then a summer ski run for our Olympic down hill ski team to practice on the Beartooth Pass near Red Lodge . I was ok at best on ski's but even in my youth I doubt I'd of given skiing up there a shot ha ha !

    Pool Ball Collecting.

Ok so then it's the amount of hair line cracks or fractures also that gives it away then also ? I've just never seen a ivory cue ball that I'm aware of so I'm wanting to learn more about them is all .

I owned a water well service company here in Montana for many years working on two different Indian reservations for both tribal and non tribal customers . One customer in particular gave me a bad feeling about the outcome of any work I could do for them , the asked if 1/2 down then the balance...

My old dog Rooster who was a English pointer lab cross AKA my crack lab once ate a entire 1 lb block of butter that was left out on the counter to thaw out without ripping the waxed paper wrapping , he also had a thing for fresh out of the oven cookies as he could balance on his hind legs and...
