    Anybody use an ash shaft?

My cuemaker is striving for best feel. Not everyone notices different feel in cues. Many can't notice a difference that a full splice gives. Or a wood to wood joint vs steel vs phenolic. I appreciate all the answers given by ash users. Thankyou.

    Anybody use an ash shaft?

They are available from certain cuemakers. I don't think they look like a whittled down 2x4 as the snooker cues do.

    Anybody use an ash shaft?

Well I stopped and I thunk. A hall of fame cuemaker suggested an ash shaft for the 2 reasons I mentioned. Guess I better think again.

Full splice vs. A-jointed cues vs. Full Core

Full splice vs. A-jointed cues vs. Full Core

I have enjoyed the hit of of full spliced cues. Some, not all. Full splice house cues are usually not too special. I had a Jerico sneaky with wood to wood joint. Didn't realize how special that was til after I sold it. I've hit a jacoby half splice that was nice. A jacoby sneaky had a nice hit.

Your thoughts on outrageous cue prices

I believe cue certain cue sellers are just driving and driving prices up up up. Crossroad, integrity, etc. Only the buyers can control this.

    Full splice lost art

My gilbert jump break started life as a full splice cue. The butt was then cut at the base of the spliced points. The wood grain still matches up perfectly between the pieces. Whether this affects the performance of the splice or whether you wish to not call it a full splice or call it a half...
