    good 9-ball break, bad luck

And it happening “more” in one tournament is also just math playing out. Making up numbers, but if the average is 10x per tournament, you will have some that may have close to zero, others close to 20x and the rest hover around 10x. Just how probability and dispersion works.

    good 9-ball break, bad luck

You’ll never beat shear mathematical variance unless you institute rules that completely negate it. Which would be hard and also likely more boring to watch. You could “fix” the break somehow with rules. But then it’s a slippery slop. Let’s say you get to break again if the cue ball scratches...

Why we can't have nice things

I remember when even as an adult, you would almost never cuss around anyone in your family except maybe your dad. And in public, very rarely. Changed in the early 2000’s I think. Unfortunately I’m also guilty of letting words fly that I never would as a late teen or early 20’s adult...

Also, match room included it in their highlight real. If it was an issue, they could have edited the volume out.

Why we can't have nice things

Meh, you don’t put microphones on anyone competing if you don’t want to get expletives in the moment. Many Hyper competitive people are going to have moments like that. And you don’t get to that level without being hyper competitive.

    Predator Panthera CRM 5-1 29/30

Have this one on the way from Korea. Brand new. The carom versions are close to the pool versions but without any wrapped models and limited to 30 instead of 100.

I agree. I could be wrong, but that’s what I come up with. And that would be the minimum number if we wanted to get stupid. Kinda nuts.

That makes sense. Big number is big number.

Again, just for conversation sake….. How would it not make a significant difference? Let’s say I could fit 44 balls from one corner to the other corner on a head rail. Sitting next to one another. But I remove 43 and then start barely moving the ball as mentioned above. That would end up...

Ya, tons. For practical purposes, it’s infinite.

Ya. You’d have to set up some parameters for the question. But, I’d say we are high enough to call it infinite for our purposes. As in, the odds of seeing an exact copy in one’s lifetime are basically zero. So for practical purposes, that makes the answer infinite.

Just for curiosity sake, wouldn’t it be more than 1258? For example, pretend the pockets are corners and not pockets. You place the cue ball tight to a corner. Now move it a microscopic distance from the side rail, but still on the short rail. Then continue that microscopic movement all the way...

That’s only if you moved a ball a complete 2.25” one way or another to be considered a different position. Moving it just 0.25” or maybe even less would technically be a different position of a ball.

Considering you can fit 968 balls on a 50”x100” playing surface…. That’s if they all only had close to an exact 2.25” spot to sit. Now you have 10 balls that have the room not being taken by about 958 balls. And, just moving them .25” or less would constitute a “different” position. “A lot”...

Production Cues used by Pro Players

Source for this? Like an actual bonafide source and not just assumptions. As most cues now are fairly generic. IE, a predator and Panthera #31/100 + revo isn’t going to feel much different than a Panthera CRM 27/30 + revo. Plenty sponsored players I know purposely just have them send them a...

Is there such a thing as natural talent? Some say yes, I do not think there is?

One could classify all this as a “talent” itself. Being able to properly focus and train properly also requires a specific aptitude and determination. The best pool players in the world likely have a higher aptitude (talent) for pool as well as what you described. Most things in life aren’t...

    Cue weight?

I promise you the top players of any game or sport are “OCD” (not real ocd, but what people mean when they say it). They do or think about their craft all day everyday. And they try new things all the time. They won’t go to a match or tournament with the new stuff until they are comfortable...

    Cue weight?

Interesting that pool is still lacking a bit when it comes to actual customizing. Especially interesting since so many use “custom” cues. -Golfers have specific things they like. -Trap shooters get fitted for shotguns -Korea has actual shops that will fit a 3c/billiard cue to a player -PRS...

Is there such a thing as natural talent? Some say yes, I do not think there is?

Just making up numbers here, but for example: Not as much talent + same amount of dedication gets you to say 750-770 Fargo. More talent + same amount of dedication gets you that 770+ rating. Music is a very easy example. Some people put in the work properly but they just aren’t as natural at...

Just got kicked out from tourney

I also missed the “not about the money social scene” part. Easy fix then. Tell them you’ll only take your entry fee back and 2nd place can have the cash.
