    Gluing the seams?

sometimes the holes are a bit off and you need to close up the gap. what one can do is affix the center slate, fill the screw holes for the other ( loose slates) in with toothpicks or splinters and glue, then clamp the loose slate up snug, , then drill fresh pilot holes for the slate which is...

    Heaters For A Garage

slightly unrelated but I play in a place where many smoke and are very happy to have a place with such freedom. Smoking is banned in most commercial type spaces, even bars around here, and the bars went out of fashion pretty much as a result, who wants to order a beer and then need to go stand...

    Gluing the seams?

if the gap is so large you are able to fit a piece of drywall tape folded in half , what you can do is separate the slates. clean the edges with a razor or boxcutter so they slide together closer. If the slates are butted but there is something in the gap preventing the coming together, ...

    Gluing the seams?

I wouldn't use the putty for a big blowout but for minor imperfections I like it a lot better. Nothing sticks well to a dirty surface.

    Star versus Riley

I see what you are saying now, those are both painted wood, obviously copying one another with the style. Even the new ones with a wood finish seem to use heavy dark toners to hide the wood , like this...

    Star versus Riley

might be inspired by some Chinese fascination with gold paint but usually better antiques are not painted, that's often done for the purpose of hiding the wood species. Its often painted to not use oak, mahogany or walnut but instead to use pine, maple or some other light colored wood. no...

    best place for cue tips?

Just want to repair a bunch of mostly junky cues so I wanted to order a selection 10 or 11 mm for snooker and 13's for 8 ball cues. I found lots of different types online, but didn't really want to order a whole lot of one type or boxes of different ones to experiment with hardness. I assume...

    Dead rails

Removing the rail isn't hard and you can check if it's loose, If you are unwrapping the rail re-gluing the rubber, stapling it back on, yea better to allow a day or so for messing with all that. - Another excuse to go visit your dad ;-)

    Dead rails

good tables wont have the rails held on by screws, so if it has wood screws holding the rails down it might be made in china garbage, but none the less, its what you have. you want to fix it up, you can. Its possible something is under the rail , like folds of cloth creating a bump and the rail...

    Dead rails

in canada we have more robertson screws, they dont cam out like the phillips screws. There was some some patent issue, way back.. henry ford didnt wanto pay the creator for the patent, it basically caused a situation where they are used less often in the US. It never reallyocurred to me...

    Dead rails

new rubber is made to specific hardness called it's durometer. if your table ages the rubber becomes harder, thats just how it changes. the bounce isn't as good after a long time. You reported one cushion is bad not all of them.. the others will be the same age. Its only one so it's not...

    Dead rails

I think this will be an easy fix, I'd suggest you remove the problem rail, flip it over, pull the staples, check if the rubber cushion has become detached from the rail. sometimes people use spray glue or not enough glue or put it together too quickly, then the bond breaks, then the ball...

    Searing Cue

I read about someone that was heating their house by subscribing themselves to mailing lists. Catalogues , etc. Ingenious! the mailman brought all his fuel at no charge, and he was heating his house for free. He set up a private mailbox for his real snail mail.

    Searing Cue

people sometimes just get older and get stuck, and procrastinate. I was wondering if this cue-guy has similar concerns but it seems he is doing work for others. possession is 9 /10ths of the law and that comment about it being over 2 years and the legal statue of limitations is likely true...

    New Carom Roo.- Chantiy, VA

I can see how it's expensive to run the 3 cushion tables, picking up the balls continuously that would have hit those other cushions IS a LOT of work ;-) yes I'm kidding !

Pool Table in a 128 Million Dollar Mega Mansion

I think no matter if you play on a crappy warped table in a crappy old house with bent floors or live in a mansion with a guy cleaning your balls ;-) ... what happens is you get accustomed to your lifestyle.. in both scenarios you have as much fun, the rest is just keeping up to the Jones's...
