I like it, just not my style.

    Horizontal Draw

Yeah, side can work like draw in very specific situations. Telling a beginner that side is the same as pure draw is irresponsible.

    Horizontal Draw

Correct? Side spin is the same as pure draw? I've never had to spend more than a couple of minutes explaining how sidespin affects the angle a cueball comes off the rail. Anyone large enough to hold a pool cue already understands that a spinning ball will change direction when it hits...

    Horizontal Draw

This post is the single best endorsement of qualified instruction for beginners I've ever seen. If I were an instructor I would print this quote on my marketing material as an example of the horrible advice and explanations one will get from randos.

In order for the shot on the four to be straight in, you have to drift the CB a few inches. If you don't drift far enough or at all, the tangent puts you in bad shape for the five. Go too far and it is even worse. Going off the rail for the five in the same pocket gives the most room for...

Is Predator's move into every aspect of pro billiards really a good thing?

I'm confused. Are we talking about what they were or what they are. 30yrs ago they made an innovative shaft. A shaft I never liked, but innovative, regardless. Now they are a marketing company--which they were then, also, they had other manufacturers making all their butts. Now other...

Also works to bank it around the nine and follow the the same position. Might leave one fewer blocking ball (if you got the 3 behind the 8), but pretty easy. If this is the final game of the set, I'm going runout all day long. If this is the first game, I like the 3-foul. People get so angry...

Is Predator's move into every aspect of pro billiards really a good thing?

Based on what? They never back up their marketing claims. BTW, look up the definition of 'mediocre'. It isn't 'bad' it is derived from the same word as 'median', which can mean 'average'. They aren't any better or any worse than the average cue, but they tend to be expensive in comparison.

    Different Taper

    Marketing bullshit.

Is Predator's move into every aspect of pro billiards really a good thing?

Predator does not make excellent products. They excellently marketed mediocre products.

    Different Taper

A hybrid taper does not exist. All tapers are either true conical or some form of a 'pro taper' Your question is impossible to answer because there are too many variables and many of those lie within you.

I'd effing foul on the second shot when I play the five instead of the four because of the stupid colors. If not, 3 to the lower right, draw for the four to the same with angle to get off the rail or draw to the five for the lower left. Enough cut on the five to roll a bit toward the lower...

problem with mental side of game

Thanks for taking it how it was intended. Two things: The book is usually easy to find used for not much money. In regards to not thinking ahead, I don't recommend that, but I spent a significant amount of my developmental years around a well known instructor, Scott Lee (rip), and as he...

problem with mental side of game

Don't take this the wrong way. If you are a 300fargo and an apa 4, you don't know what you need to do. All I mean by this is that your expectations don't align with your skills, it isn't your mental game as much as your inaccurate assessment of your ability. A book that will really help you...

How Important Is it to Own/Use a Break Cue

Any decent solid maple shaft isn't going to be hurt with a break, either. I break with whatever cue I'm playing with, even my 12mm 31" long pro taper shaft. I won't buy or make myself a break cue.

weird stains on my pool cue

The dye obviously came from the case (based on the evidence/story provided). "Why" is the question. It isn't that the dye just magically transferred to one cue, it isn't likely because of a bit of atmospheric dampness. I really expect that it was something that was put on the cue as a cleaner...

weird stains on my pool cue

Are you in the habit of 'cleaning' your cues with acetone? Acetone is not a cleaner for finishes, it is a finish remover. If you cleaned those cues with acetone before you put them in the case, that could be the culprit. Even isopropyl can soften finishes and will definitely leach dye. The...
