    Threading pool cue butt

Yeah, he is talking about making an insert, threaded male M20x1.5 with a female M16x1.5. What is the diameter of the existing hole? The plastic should thread fine. As long as the plastic isn't an acetal, you would likely be fine omitting the external threads on the insert and epoxying, but...

    Best Playing Cue Builder

I keep asking this question... The conical joint used in industry only locates on the cone. If you add the flat flange on the joint, you are over-constraining the joint. This means that the two pieces either seat on the cone and leave a gap at the flat outer flange, or the two pieces seat on...

In order to make that recipe better, you can saute the cranberries in a skillet for four minutes, deglaze the pan with balsamic vinegar. Finally, using a spatula, scrape the cranberries directly into the garbage. Priced with the rest of the recipe.

Tipping tournament directors - do you tip on calcutta amount as well?

Well, at least it wasn't a Rhodes Scholar who told you.

Tipping tournament directors - do you tip on calcutta amount as well?

If a tip is expected, it isn't a tip, it's a fee. I'll preface the rest of this by saying that I absolutely tipped wait staff well when I used to go to bars and restaurants. When the tip is basically required, it really isn't a tip. Places that add a gratuity to a bill are really just an...

Tipping tournament directors - do you tip on calcutta amount as well?

Same. Or pay the tds entry. I've never played in many tourneys where the td was paid.

Tipping tournament directors - do you tip on calcutta amount as well?

No it doesn't. For one thing, it would be to 'ensure' proper service. I've never taken out an insurance claim on a bar maid.

Moving to a heavy playing cue

Try going the other way. I shoot with anything between 16 and 19oz. The light cue has helped me make my stroke straighter due to it not having the inertia.

Curious-Do Fargo ratings differ by location?

Well that's constructive. It's no secret that I'm not a fan of handicapped tourneys, but I love FR and appreciate the work Mr Page has put into it. It is a great tool for comparing progress and performance. Say, for instance, I go to Red deer Alberta and 'crush' a player 20-12. If I then...

Curious-Do Fargo ratings differ by location?

A couple of things. First, you based your theory on a specific, that your buddy told you he crushed everyone in 147000 square miles. Second, this has been beaten to death. Use the search. Third, statistically it is well set up and Mike Page has repeatedly shown the validity based off of...

Curious-Do Fargo ratings differ by location?

Asked and answered. Unless you have some evidence of the Fargo rates of the people your friend crushed, you haven't provided a single compelling reason to suggest ratings vary. I already said that I have a lot of years playing in two areas and that the ratings seem consistent. Why don't you...

Curious-Do Fargo ratings differ by location?

He also didn't play me. He'd likely win, but I doubt it would be horrible. I'd like to know where he played. I don't know if the holiday classic is still going on in boz, but fifteen years ago a 650 would have been fighting for mid pack. But he crushed them all and I bet they had their own...

Curious-Do Fargo ratings differ by location?

You know for a fact that he didn't play Boucher. 743 and #58 in the US. I have no fargo rating, never played in an event that reports. I do have a lot of time playing with people from both Seattle and Bozeman and know their ratings. I wouldn't bet a used sandwich either way against Seattle...

    The old Viking "Super Joint"

The contact between the faces is, hopefully obviously, most important closest to the outside radius. At best the nested threads are redundant if either thread is capable of providing the force necessary. If neither is strong enough, the second only helps if they can be individually tightened...

Possible to extend shaft length from 29 to 30 inches?

If you make a solid metal piece with an integral male pin made of the same piece as the extension, the female will be threaded in the extension. The extension only has to be a little longer than the pin in the cue. The problem as I see it is that you must make the extension and make pin out of...

What's going on with the 3 high 3 low points....

Thank-you for the kind words. Pin is modified 3/8-10. Love of wood is what got me started in cuemaking, maybe pool, also. I grew up with a father who was a carpenter, carpenter apprenticeship instructor, cabinet maker. I don't think we ever had less than about 500-1000 board feed of oak...

What's going on with the 3 high 3 low points....

While it was made in Montana, it isn't flashy enough for Tony Montana. It's a pretty understated cue, bocote and south american chestnut.
