1000's of tables? Tell ya what...take a really powerful vacuum (no brush) and use it on the same table every couple of days for a year and get back with me.

A vacuum with low suction. Very good.

If a vacuum has enough suction to displace the plaster in a seam, it's strong enough to stretch the cloth. The stretching of the cloth is gradual but the cloth will loosen eventually.

Only takes a minute to take it off or put it on. I don't particularly like tying on my shoes, but the benefits far outweigh the drawbacks.

Remember...there's a lot of dust in the air in an average home, so it's not just chalk dust that accumulates on the table. I always advise my customers that don't have a table cover, to get one, to help keep the table clean. They're generally lousy shots, but cats also like playing on pool...

Years ago, when I was being mentored by Garten Bierbower, he told me that 'back in the day' billiard fabric was primarily wool and the nap was a lot longer than it is now. A brush was used to lay the nap down in the same direction...head to foot on the bed and counter clockwise on the cushions...
