    New Billiards in San Francisco

Apparently you haven’t been to Baghdad by the Bay recently. The urban environment there is not conducive to any kind of new business.

What band saw for an aspiring cue maker?

I’ll give you the same advice I always give about purchasing a power saw like this. Buy your last bandsaw first. Look at what you need it for now, then anything you may want to do in the future. You’ll save a lot of money in the long run.

    RIP Chang Jun-Lin

Just read Fedor Gorst’s post on Facebook; what a class act by a classy gentleman. I know I will miss seeing Chang compete as I’m sure many of you will. May he rest in peace.

    Lathe lubricant

I think the brand is Blaster (Home Depot). I’ve tried all kinds of oil, but it still attracts wood, dust, you name it. I also put the dry lube on the headstock and tailstock and cross slide. Woodcraft also has small adhesive strips of a slick material that I would love to find a way to attach to...

The best butt for under $2000

I was SOOOO tempted to name an old girlfriend, but $2000 was just a down payment. I’ll leave it at that.

    Lathe lubricant

I use a dry lubricant and then my electric polisher to really make the bed slick. The headstock glides smoothly on the bed as do the cross slides.

    Tips delamination while shaping

I echo Kim’s comment; I’ve had several counterfeit Kamui tips delaminate. Some of the $5 cheapo tips do the same.

    Tip lathe

You may want to consider a cue lathe (Cueman makes good ones). No modifications needed; ready to install tips, ferrules and clean cues. I’ve even finished CF tubes with mine. Best of luck with whichever route you go.

    Help with Tiger Everest tip

I need a little help with a recent Everest tip install. I noticed some gray area on the tip when I got to the last 4 layers. I have never seen this before. I have installed several Everest tips, but none until recently. Is this tip “old”? I didn’t make a dull thud sound like all the other...

Mezz Ignite Carbon Fiber Shaft repair

Why not try a different ferrule material? I have replaced all 6 ferrules on my CF shafts with Tomahawk. I have tried quite a few different ferrule material types but come back to Tomahawk. It’s easy to work with and polishes up nicely. And it’s competitively priced. YMMV.

Noob question, is my cutting bit dull?

I use mainly Tomahawk for ferrules; cuts easily with sharp tooling. When the tooling is sharp, the removed material comes off in spiral, spring like threads. And I mean long threads and in one piece. If I don’t get this, I stop and sharpen the bit. Hope this helps in some way.

Amateur pool with josh Powell you tube page! And apa shenanigans

“Yeah the apa is very cocky on a national level. Let’s face it at this point no one is as big as they are and they know it And seem to treat their customers like they are doing them a favor providing a pool league.” Some LOs are like this too. I just wish they would quit lying about their...

Milkdud tips versus „just dry pressed without soaking in anything“

Has anyone tried soaking an Elkmaster, drying it out but not pressing it? Just tried it and was impressed with how it played. I recently went with Tiger Everest tips on my play cues; the prepared non pressed Elkmaster played just as well. I’ll try a few more before I make a decision on using...

APA SL Q - Based on 'Bud Light'

Don’t waste your time guys. Straight from St. Louis; your hcp is what your LO “THINKS” it is. Notwithstanding the health issues I’ve had, with the accompanying loses, my hcp has not dropped. I even went one session without winning a single match; no change. I rarely make above 40 balls in nine...

    Sanding tip prep for install

Also, make sure the ferrule is FLAT before installing. Goes without saying. I’ve had tips fly off on installing because I didn’t make sure the ferrule was flat.
