Gripping the cue like a toothbrush?

This is a great post. The only thing I would add is the palm of the hand is used to feel the cue ball thru the stick. The lighter you feel the cue in your grip hand palm the better you can feel the QB. Also, one or two of your fingers, be it the index, middle, or ring can be used as a trigger...

Here is a neat little device

Well, it's been 8 weeks and approx. 8000 balls shot using the Range of Motion Arm Brace. I'm very happy with the end result. It was necessary to go the whole 8 weeks and a bunch of shots to allow for my muscle memory to store the new movement. My arm only closes naturally one way. So what I...

Sight Along Stick or Something Else?

Interesting post Pat. From a standing position I line up the CB vertical center line with the contact point on the OB. Once this is done I determine what kind of spin I want to use. Lets say, high right, (cutting an OB to the left) I then come down on the shot with the left side of my cue on...

How do you grip your cue?

This doc was taken from a pretty good snooker coach from the UK. I copied everything he wrote. Good stuff. I tried to tell a friend of mine to not try to push the cue ball with his forearm. I told him the the lower bicep is designed to pull the forearm closed which in the end pushes the cue...

    Steering to right

Your not building your stance to allow for the shooting arm to close naturally on the shot line and your vision center could be off, which would effect your lining up on the shot line. As posted earlier, a frontal video will tell you right away what the issue is. John :)

Gripping the cue to tight on impact

Here is a nice series on the grip as taught by Barry Stark. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZKOy9gWj0nk In one of the videos he talks about using a trigger finger to get the cue moving forward. I use my index finger, like pulling the trigger on a firearm. Barry uses his ring finger. Hope this...

Yup. This is covered very well in Daniel Coyle's book (or DVD set) The Little Book of Talent (the best book on the planet for learning how to learn). I have the book and DVD set. I listen to the DVD's while driving. Pandora can wait. Welcome back Pat. Your insight into the cuing sports is...

I need help with position play.

For position play I highly recommend Bert Kinister's Tight Pockets 60-Minute Workout for 9-Ball. This will teach you how to get from one ball to another, to another, and to another in the pattern. It teaches feel. For pattern play the earlier posters have recommended the best. John :)

    New Style Jump Cue

A friend of mine who is a custom cue builder here in the St. Louis area has designed a new jump cue. I have 1 of 3 made. I saw his when I was at his house and said "what in the heck is that" he said "that's a jump cue I make" and I said "mind if I try it out". He has his own table so I gave it...
