    Polisher for cues

You can get polishing mops in different grades, so you would start with a medium coarse mop and a cutting compound, clean the cue, switch mops to a fine grade and use a finer compound, then switch mops again for a finish compound. My experience is that buffing the cue really brings out the depth...

No wonder maple and many other hardwoods have skyrocketed in price..

Chinese knock off Predator P3 and SP2

It would be interesting to see the factory. I thought Weilu was a separate outfit. I didn't imply anything fishy was going on. I just noted that very shortly after I posted their website on the forum, their website was taken down. Their old website stated clearly who they made cues for with the...

Need some Help identifying ferrule material

Cool. I'll do a 1" piece tomorrow and check the weight. If it's Elforyn, there's a super easy tell. Did it smell coconut while turning it?

Chinese knock off Predator P3 and SP2

Yes I know it changed name 🙂 Actually there was a long discussion about brands made in China years ago on the forum. At that time Taican wood had a website where they proudly told who they made cues for and basic information about the company. I posted that link on the forum and shortly after...

Chinese knock off Predator P3 and SP2

I'm fairly sure those are made at the Taican plant. The limited edition cues are often made by Jacoby, Pechauer, even Mezz has made some back in the day.

Chinese knock off Predator P3 and SP2

"Designed in USA" Taican wood makes most of the Predator cues, except LE cues and the Revo shafts.

What is in your bag currently AZB version?

Fellini style case. Purpleheart/quilted maple cue, Kielwood shaft @13mm, short Micarta ferrule, Caiden Medium tip. Last4ever tip tool, Tiger chalk, Kamui 2024 glove, that's it.

Chinese knock off Predator P3 and SP2

Been like that for years. "Predator" is the most well know fake brand and I have had customers that genuinely thought they had a Predator cue.. Copyright laws are lax/non-existant in China. The irony is that Predator is made in China too..

Need some Help identifying ferrule material

It's certainly not a LBM type material as there's no weave structure at all. Looks like a thermoset material. Juma, T-34 or Elforyn. Tell us what a 1" piece weights and it should be possible to tell if it's Juma/T-34 or Elforyn.

    Sealing Irish linen

I think you'll find that the result might not look that great if you're doing this yourself with only a rattle can, but then again I don't know what kind of result you are after. But if you want the cue to be seamless, like a Meucci, you will need to blend the new and old clearcoat and there's...

    Sealing Irish linen

Ok, that's a much bigger job. You will need to seal the linen with epoxy, sand that flat and spray clear coat over. In order to achieve that and not have the wrap be proud of the finish, the wrap groove might have to be cut slightly deeper.

what do you cut a one piece with?

The way I look at it, when converting a house cue, the shaft part is firewood anyway. As @BarenbruggeCues said, just chop the shaft in small pieces and throw it in the fireplace. Cut the butt slightly longer than you need so you can face off between centers.

    Sealing Irish linen

If you clean linen wraps, you often have to press it lightly again, depends on how fuzzy it becomes. After the wrap is starched and pressed, a bit of sanding sealer and 1200 grit sandpaper gives a very smooth surface.

    Shaft wood options and opinions

I've tried several woods, ash, pear, hornbeam etc and none of them have all the qualities of maple. Purpleheart for jump or break cues is fine, but it feels horrible in a playing cue.

    Gloves

I sell all the big glove brands and it seems customers have very different opinions on what's best, I think it comes down to how the glove fits your hand and expectations. I see people complaining about seams and some recommending washing the gloves. You can certainly wash them, but given how...

    Need a new tip recommendation!!

I think it's interesting that you're experiencing delamination over and over. I'm wondering more about the installation and maintenance? I install a lot of tips and delamination is something I very seldom see, and if I do see it, it's often due to the customer installing the tip wrong, prying...
