Has anyone bought this new book?

http://www.amazon.com/Pool-Billiards-Dummies-Nicholas-Leider/dp/0470565535/ref=pd_sim_b_19 If so, what did you think of it? Was the advice good? Were the practice drills useful? I see there's a whole section on 8-ball. Do you think this has helped your game? Feedback gratefully received :)

    Another look at APA

That is basically a summary of what I've been saying about the APA. I also started playing in it for the first time this session. I love it so far and am working to improve.

Moving from a bar box, to a golf course.... 9 footer

I'm only a novice-intermediate player, but I regularly go from 7 to 9ft and back down again. The main differences I've noticed on a 9ft compared to a 7ft: - any errors in your stroke or your aiming are magnified on the larger playing surface - i.e. you need to be rather more accurate - more...

    Poll: What's your primary game?

Well I chose 7-ball because firstly I believe it's growing. But mainly because it's a very distinctive game and I thought it would appeal to those who like to play something different from the norm. You can buy special racks and balls for it now. Based on this description...

    Poll: What's your primary game?

Wow, 8-ball has really taken an overnight lead after being level with 9-ball! I expected 10-ball to be more popular than indicated so far. I didn't realize one-pocket and straight were that popular these days. I'd never heard of one-pocket until a few weeks ago. Very interesting ongoing...

Best Place to break from on a bar table?

LOL, you must be several times stronger than me. I've been using this method for several weeks and have yet to lift the CB from the slate. On the other hand, I've made a lot of balls. Usually get a good spread of balls too.

Custom Equipment Cue Poll for Players of all Skill Levels

Would APA 4 at 8-ball be a beginner or intermediate? I've got one break&run patch so far in my first session playing APA. How do we define a beginner? Someone who knows the rules and who can hit the object ball most of the time?

    APA.........You Do the Math.

I wonder if the APA will put on 10-ball leagues in the future?

Oops. Sorry, your 1st post didn't really make that clear.

Best Place to break from on a bar table?

Break from the balk line about 2-3 inches from either rail. Hit the 2nd ball in the rack head-on as hard as you can. From my experience you've got roughly a 50% chance (perhaps greater) of making a ball. If you're playing lower-ranked players they're unlikely to run out on you if you don't...
