    I lost

A lot of people don't get me, or think I'm insincere, when I cheer them up on great (or even just good) shots made. I just really enjoy seeing the game played well!

    The Dime a Game Barbox!

Yep, the bar near our summer place had, if I'm not mistaken, a 8 ft. Brunswick that was a dime and my Dad *****ed about the price (half kiddingly). The only 8 footer I've ever seen with a coin slot!

Anyone shoot with just one or two cues for many years?

I've had a McD D-3 for over 30 years from the factory. Played with it solely for close to 10 years. Guy at my bar at the time wanted to get rid of his D-18 due to frustration w/the Game. Gave him $125 for it on the spot. Another 10 goes by and there's a guy at a different club keeps asking me to...

    Worst Tables Ever

Freddy, wish I could remember name/city but it was right near you. Del Mar/Carlsbad area. Little hole in the wall beach bar with a table in a semi enclosed room on the Oceanside of bldg. First break and I saw water coming off the cue ball on the way to the rack. Just recently my wife and I...

    Blues Music & Pool

OK, can't tell you how many times I've seen BB. Muddy is high on my list as well. Now if y'all can find em look for Climax Blues Band, FM Live album, song Seventh Son. Gotta mention Ricky Derringer who played with Edgar Winter as well. Always liked Eric Burdon, especially his work as The...

In order to keep up your Pool Habit.....What do you do to get extra Cash?

I come in with less than $300 into my 2 cues and case. Beers are $2.50 for tall boys and tables are open for Happy Hour! My spending is $7.50 + tips weekly. Less than almost any other enjoyment I can find. ;-) I'm not a NIT, I'm just broke. Dave

Good With a Rifle=Good at Pool?

Yep, I agree. I got my first rifle (pellet, .177 break barrel-single shot) at around seven. Been shooting pool and rifles since about that age. Always had a "knack" for both. Got in Marine Corps where they taught me the importance of breath control, sight picture, grip, etc... In Basic I...

How to improve when you're already a great player

First, I think its hard to objectively evaluate your own play. Admit shortcomings, weaknesses, faults, etc... I know when I'm playing someone not my speed my game suffers. That angers & frustrates me and I slide further down that slope. My Dad said one time when I had beaten a friend of his...

What Does Your Pool Hall Playlist Consist Of?

My tastes are quite eclectic as well. Old, new, being a guitarist I like anything I perceive as well played usually. Not gonna drop names but one time in a favorite club a pro player came in I was not aware of. They were in town for a tourney at a different establishment. Quarters were up...

    Love and Pool

Good post, thanks, enjoyed and relate to it from different perspective. My Dad started me playing young. He was a good player from 1930’s, Hammond, IN. area. He was asked why he never put a table in our house and his response was always, “Wouldn’t have an excuse to take David to the bar.” Was...
