    US Open 9-Ball--Bucket List?

If the point of all this is to make entrants a little better in the dead money category, having had to qualify to get there in the first place, you need to have it formally organized and run, not just thrown out to owners of some pool rooms. That's just changing where the dead money is coming...

    Mike dechaine 2023

It was good to see Mike's name in the player list at DCC this year. I was hoping maybe that was the start of him playing a little more...

    US Open 9-Ball--Bucket List?

The concept of a qualifier system would be a wonderful thing for pool in the US. Sadly, the infrastructure for pool in the US isn't remotely ready for such a thing. It would require a national pool federation to run things, in conjunction with Matchroom regarding whatever number of entries...

    US Open 9-Ball--Bucket List?

If you have the means, I'd say go for it! With 256 entries, there are obviously going to be dead money entries, why can't you be one of them if you so desire? I understand the desire for the experience.

how are ya'll doing in league ?

Good shooting! As for getting bumped up, maybe you will, maybe you won't. Depends on a whole lot of factors, despite what anybody thinks they know ;) The more games you have in the system, the less chance you have going up. Who you played matters. (Or how good they are, more accurately)...

Predator WPA World 8 Ball Championship 2023 (17-22 Oct 2023), Austria, Winner $75K

Any word on if there will be any free streams? I'd love to watch the top pros play 8-ball, but I won't have the time to justify paying for a stream

Efren Reyes to hanoi, what's brewing?

if Matchroom is gonna be doing it, it'll be 9-ball

US Open 9-Ball, 2023, Atlantic City, Sep 25-30

I was thinking even a 1 minute shot time, with the one extension per rack deal, would be something... and that's a lot longer than most tournaments with shot clocks, isn't it?

US Open 9-Ball, 2023, Atlantic City, Sep 25-30

Good lord, ball in hand with a mostly open table...walk around the table 8 times, and counting.... are you a pro, dude?

US Open 9-Ball, 2023, Atlantic City, Sep 25-30

When do they start using shot clocks? Tried watching a little of Tyler match while I was on break at work, wow...his opponent drags out every shot. I realize this is one of the biggest stages a pool player can be on, and the equipment is super tough, all of that. Still...that is really...

    New predator chalk

I mean, c'mon, the pro's don't need those $1000 cues to shoot as well as they do, right? They can shoot that well with pretty much anything... ;)

    CueLee's Connecticut 9-Ball Open @ US1 Billiards, Sep 22+23

I've popped in now and again this afternoon, without using the audio. did they stop the split screen, or did I mess it up on my end?

Watching right now, there is also a Rasson graphic in the top right corner at times, as well as banners with their name on them between the tables. Pretty good chance it's their stuff

how are ya'll doing in league ?

Along those same thoughts...I think most players in our APA league aren't opposed to learning. They just aren't motivated to improve, per se. They are out to have some competitive fun with friends, maybe a drink or two, and if they learn how to do something specific that they didn't know before...

    CueLee's Connecticut 9-Ball Open @ US1 Billiards, Sep 22+23

I don't watch a lot of streams, so maybe I'm no judge of its quality. I'm enjoying this one, certainly. I think the quality is quite good. I like the side by side shots, one of the table from the side or end, and the other an overhead shot. (albeit a second or two delayed). Pretty cool

Variations of 8ball let’s hear them all

We used to do this, we just called it Call Ahead. Sometimes it was played to provide a handicap for a much better player than a beginner, the better player having to call ahead while the beginner just played the table. I was the beginner for a while, but I liked the game so much that I started...

    Rules for an APA league

Glad you've found a league that works for you. APA works well for me, and many others. The food thing is room related, as has been pointed out here a few times, and can happen with any league. It's not an APA thing.

    Rules for an APA league

Teams are comprised of up to 8 players. You can play any combination of 5 that total 23 or less. If you can't come up with a combination of 23 or below out of 8 players, you haven't done a good job balancing your team. Yes, you could conceivably play one match with players totalling 22, and...
