    APA Rule - Break Foul

I'm of the opinion that it would be called a foul, a re-rack, and the other player breaks. It's one of those scenarios that falls thru the cracks of the APA rules. Hopefully APA Operator will see this and chime in.

One Pocket Rules - Calling Accidental Foul on Self

In my specific instance, it was a case where the cue ball rebounded into the tip after contact, close to the rail. Unless a viewer was directly overhead watching for it, no one would have known. And it wasn't something you would have expected from the way i addressed the shot. I just screwed...

One Pocket Rules - Calling Accidental Foul on Self

I double hit the other night in my lowly league match, picked up the cue ball and handed it over, the other player was dumbfounded. His captain smiled and thanked me. Not the same as doing that playing at DCC, I'll grant you, tho I'd like to think I'd still do the same there, as well.

Tree Piece Cue in Carry-on Luggage

Thing is, no matter how many times you hear about someone taking theirs as a carry on, do you want to risk that they will be enforcing it, with you? So be prepared to leave it behind if they scan the bag, see it, and say you can't take it on. To me, flying (and specifically getting thru the...

What would you do? Custom 24 month wait or instant Gratification?

I'd easily and quickly take the deal now vs waiting for the custom

    Short safety game

They frustrate me, cuz I can clearly see the safety, and it doesn't look like it should be difficult, and inevitably I hit it too hard, for fear of not getting something to the rail, or some other mishap. Certainly comes from a lack of practice. (And actual skill, heh heh.)

Advice on how to stay down on the shot more consistently?

I tend to have more occurrences of the jump-up syndrome when I use an open bridge, for some reason. When I find myself doing it, I force myself into using a closed bridge more, and it usually helps me stay down better. Silly, but it seems to work for me.

Do you wear competition pool outfits? Thoughts?

My league teams have shirts, but not the bright flashy stuff show in the photos here, more traditional button short sleeved shirts. (Nothing wrong with the ones shown here, either, we're just not that flashy.) Ours are more like old-school bowling team shirts. Pretty low key. We usually only...

how are ya'll doing in league ?

I always try to gently point out to the complainers "you try managing a league filled with crying pool players...they deserve all they get out of running this" 😉 Obviously, the work that goes into managing a successful APA franchise is huge. Our LOs had 30 different divisions in the Spring...

how are ya'll doing in league ?

Well, in our little corner of the world, there aren't a ton of regular opportunities for competitive play. We have APA 8 and 9 ball, we also have TAP 8 and 9 ball. There are chip style tournaments on weekend nights. Occasionally there might be a weekend tournament, but not often. The local...

how are ya'll doing in league ?

I think that those types of players make up a high percentage of my divisions here. With the caveat that most of them are competitive enough, they certainly want to win. Most will not be practicing beyond league nights. (Self included, these days...) The way I've tried to describe it for...

Acs nationals in Vegas …. Meh

Bluenosers.... took me back. I remember taking The Bluenose Ferry from Maine to Nova Scotia, many years ago. Congrats

Acs nationals in Vegas …. Meh

I would just be the guy that would hike down to the convenience store on the corner in front of the Westgate every morning and grab coffees for the team. FAR cheaper than the hotel coffee, and it wasn't a real long walk.

We were losers in our Divisional playoffs, sigh...new session starts this week. There's always next year ;)

BCA Hall of Fame…no Mike Howerton?

Maybe adding a couple a year for a while wouldn't be out of the question, and get some of these names caught up without having a huge class... it's a shame that Mark Griffin wasn't inducted while he was here to be a part of it. How many others that we're talking about are going to miss having...

    Chip Tournament

We re-draw after each round. Playing one game matches, it doesn't drag too much, with the usual folks we have participating. Its actually nice to have a few minutes every so often

    UK Too Slow

I have to say, while never playing or even seeing a snooker table, I'm having a lot of fun watching clips of snooker on the web. I think I would just as soon watch pro snooker as pro pool, actually. (And I don't even know enough of the rules to know in which order the balls need to be hit...

    Chip Tournament

We use playing cards for matchups, as well, tho we don't use the suit to determine who breaks, we just lag. We put a joker in for the bye when there is an odd number of players that round.

how are ya'll doing in league ?

I get your frustration. But sometimes life gets in the way. Not everyone works M-F, 9-5 jobs, so job issues on weekends can be a thing. Family commitments are a thing too, lots of weddings and graduations this time of year. There can be any number of conflicts, and just because the timing is...

how are ya'll doing in league ?

Due to a quirk in the calendar, and the need to get a lot of season ending stuff done before the State Tournament, our Tri-Cup was held this past weekend, before our session playoffs have completed. The team that we're going to be playing this coming Thursday, for first place this session, was...
