    Shim Stock for Collets

Glad you like them Alan. They should last a long time. Love that I could use same shims for different size shafts. Mine stays in the chuck since I do mostly tips, ferrules, and shafts.

    Shim Stock for Collets

I cut them a little wide than the jaws and chuck them down. I haven’t had any issues with it holding firmly due to taper. If you clamp those delrins tight enough they can also leave marks. I can post a pic when I get off from work. Regards, Phi

    Shim Stock for Collets

Joe Porper Big Shaver Pool/Billiards Cue Stick Tip Tool Trimmer/Shaper vs. Willard Tipping Machine

The plastic set screw will etch your ferrule if you tighten it too much. I remember I had to put some masking tape on the ferrule to help.

Best way to do my own tips?

I was in the same boat as you. Went to a cue mechanic and watch him put a tip on. Went home and google some lathes and build one. Learn a lot and had fun along the way. Although it’s small, it’s still a lathe and dangerous if you don’t know what you doing. There is definitely a learning...
