Yeah, this thread is the most action I've had since JimBo crushed my hopes and dreams!! :P

    Best quote ever...

If you do buy one you should send it to me to run an experiment to see if my game improves. I'll have it back to you in twenty or thirty years tops! P.S. I assume your refering to G. Szamboti?!

    Is this a good deal?

DC, I waited about six months for my first cue and was quoted about the same for the cue he's working on for me now. Skip is certainly one of the best values in cues right now, imo.

    Women and pool

Well, I was very impressed with Kelly's game in the final day of the tourney in Alpine, CA a couple of weeks ago! She didn't play that strongly the entire tourney, but by golly, she turned it on the last day. I believe she essentially broke and ran 7 or 8 racks in a row, losing me a dollar to...

    Is this a good deal?

I guess they technically aren't veneers since they aren't dyed sycamore, but they aren't recuts either. That's why most people, when refering to Skip's cues, use the term "hardwood veneer". What ever he's doing, I like it a lot...lol.

    Type of wood to use

If you're going to use a burl for the forearm you will need to have it cored. That being said, here's some pictures of the amboyna in my cue:

    Is this a good deal?

Scott, Skip's points look like they're recuts, but they're actually hardwood veneers. Skip has a proprietary way of doing veneers so there's no glue line at the top and since they're hardwoods you can see the grain. Skip's points have ruined me for life for most all other cuemakers...lol...

    Best quote ever...

I found this quote in an eBay auction, "Your game is only as good as your equipment." I thought that was hilarious...lol. I'm a self-admitted equipment whore, but I know that the best equipment in the world isn't going to make you play better, especially a case. :D :D

    Is this a good deal?

Retail for that cue is $850 + $75 each for ivory ferrule, but since both shafts have non-standard ferrules I don't know about that. Either way, the price is fairly close to retail.

    Limited Edition ERs for AzBers

I'll definitely post mine when I get it. However, I believe it could be around July before mine is delivered.

    Slow Play

I know, I couldn't even imagine playing Lou Butera. If he was any slower you'd have to commit suicide just to get over the frustration.

Cat sharpens claws on new simonis?

I agree, it is for the parent/pet owner to decide what brand of torture they inflict upon their children/pets...lol.

I think he might be implying that you're too good to be true?!

Word to the Wise: Traveling w/Laptop Computer

Well, on my personal Dell machine, I have the University of Missouri site liscensed version of the OS direct from Microsoft, but even the default install from the Dell OS CD is better than the shipped OS with the other crap they install. It's also a lot easier to pear down the different...

Cat sharpens claws on new simonis?

I just thought it was funny, hell, I don't even have any kids...lol.

Cat sharpens claws on new simonis?

It's not that big of a deal, I do the same thing with my three year old son for trying to get into the cookie jar! It works very well just like whitewolf mentioned!

Word to the Wise: Traveling w/Laptop Computer

That's why the first thing I do when I get a computer is reinstall from scratch and configure it how I want. At least Dell includes the base windows OS CD.

    Andy Gilbert cue

He's working on a custom jump/break for me right now. It's a bit over double what a typical j/b goes for but it'll have eight points, a leather wrap and two shafts.

At least the cat no longer had that "not-so-fresh feeling"!

    Pro Skill Drills Preview

I hadn't heard of this and in looking at the presentations on the website and the comments on here I just ordered the DVD and book! It looks like there are some really challenging drills there, and some that might even keep me interested long enough to complete them.
