How to Use the Masse' Shot to Curve Around Obstructing Balls

No, I get it. And you're right for about 10 different reasons. My problem on 5% of my shots is losing focus and not having a correct head position. The hips controlling coming down on the shot is probably the strongest tip you put out there for me and my game. It makes everything solid and...

How to Use the Masse' Shot to Curve Around Obstructing Balls

Oh, ok! I should be using a breast, not a chest. Be back in a few after I find one. Best, Mike

    Fear of Feel

This is interesting to me. As an aside, I do something like this already on shots less than 5 degrees. When the shot is almost straight in and I need to do more than TOI with the cue ball, I pivot from center a half tip to outside and cinch balls. I create angles fairly well with it, too...

How to Use the Masse' Shot to Curve Around Obstructing Balls

I can relate to pitching coins. When the pool action was too tough, foot races, pitching coins, etc., was the best action. Too many mechanics playing cards, and the dice always seemed to get cold. :) It's been a while since I tossed a coin. Time to brush up. You never know. You mentioned...

I wrote, "Clear the mechanism" in my last post, but it didn't come up. Best, Mike

How to Use the Masse' Shot to Curve Around Obstructing Balls

I've been lining up shots with the front of my shoulder instead of the elbow. The elbow didn't work for me. I've done this without any aiming or alignment system and completely by feel. We'll see what happens in the next couple of days. Best, Mike

How to Use the Masse' Shot to Curve Around Obstructing Balls

The fish are definitely being fed these days. There's still some magical stuff out there to be had, but it'll have to pass a rigid AZB inspection before it can be classified as non-mythical/mystical. Let me guess...free special kool-aid? You've given more knowledge to these forums from...

Contact point 2 contact point aiming.

LAMas is hijacking his own thread and starting a flame war. He probably just wants this thread to get 3,000+ views. Best, Mike

Contact point 2 contact point aiming.

The last couple of years, I switched from a soft tip to a hard tip. I bought into the short contact time the cue tip is on the cue ball and tried to tailor my game to thinking the tip wouldn't affect the outcome of my stroke. The more I read from the posters and soft tip results, I think I may...

How to Use the Masse' Shot to Curve Around Obstructing Balls

There's been several discussions in the past of the wrist flick and its pros and cons. The consensus in one camp is it doesn't really add any advantage or power into the stroke. The other camp disagrees and says it can be a decided addition, especially to firmer strokes. I'm in the second...

How to Use the Masse' Shot to Curve Around Obstructing Balls

I understand the idea of coiling is a collecting or gathering of the muscles in and around the shoulder for a certain movement or even non movement. You're referring to positioning the shoulder, how? You've mentioned this before , but we've never got any discussion going on about it. Best, Mike

Contact point 2 contact point aiming.

I agree with that. My inside alignment pre-pivot is pretty close to the aim line with inside spin. I can calculate the speed for deflection purposes and cinch shots. The deflection is more consistent than the throw factor with spin for direction and friction. Best, Mike

Contact point 2 contact point aiming.

LAMas, Thanks for that. My OCD was acting up. That's what I was hoping you'd say. :) I like the pivot. My hip pivot gives me that slight over cut. Plus, when I keep my head on the shot line instead of moving body parts, the shot lines up with a stick aiming system I use as a double check. I...

Contact point 2 contact point aiming.

A couple of things I noticed. The 30 degree image is not proportional as in mirror imaging. The A and B proportions seem to be equal rather than A equal to A and B equal to B. Or does the shooter use different points of reference to get equal proportions? Pivoting versus a parallel shift gives...

    Question about intentional swerve

Good post, Christian. You hit the nail on the head with your observations. CJ has been a catalyst for discussion on these forums. I've learned a lot from him and I'm sure he's got a ton more he could teach us if we keep the constructive comments in the forefront of our chats. As an aside, we're...

How to Use the Masse' Shot to Curve Around Obstructing Balls

I've been looking around trying to find part 2 of the video. The first part was a well done technical examination of the masse' physical components. I'm sure his part two would be quite a bit better than my system. I'm a hack compared to Mr. Trilles, as I'm sure 99% of all others are, too...

    Elbow Orientation

Pool could use a reference book like this. Instead of borrowing from the snooooker world, which does have a lot of similarities, a general primer on body types and their tendencies could be a key component in analyzing improper alignments. Best, Mike
