Shot Clock - What's the point?

The point of a shot clock is obvious, of course. The only question is how do pool organizers make it available on every table. Seems like the only cost effective solution is some AI-related technology that can tell when a shot ends and starts a clock automatically. Prolly does not exist yet...

Strickland is almost worth the price of admission. Almost. Sometimes he sounds so crazy I'd want to get away!

I would like my user name and password to be able to be saved. Got to log in to WNT TV every single time. Sometimes a few times a day. Worse on a TV browser unless it has a password save.

There are lots more, but not intuitive to find. Go to main page and scroll to the bottom. You will see a few dozen streams.

Not Collins, please. Gives a good effort, but ..., well, I will leave it at that.

Much appreciate the effort to improve WNT TV and keep us informed, JA. I know the site has improved after a tough first two days of the WPC. Yet I still do not understand why WNT TV can't create an automated process to move table streams from live to VOD. No need to edit or clip out individual...

3 things you would change about pool

Lot of bad ideas here. Glad all you guys aren't in charge of pool. Sorry! ;) WNT has discussed the possibility of a limit on how many times a jump cue can be used. I would gather MR has discussed that. MR also knows the shot clock is vital. Still surprised a better solution hasn't been put in...

Florida Open 2025, August 5-10, Orlando, Caribe Royale

This has been an ongoing problem from Day 1 of WNT TV. Still no listing of a Florida Open at all among the on-demand viewing options. WNT knew the event was coming. They had time to prepare. They have ironed out some kinks, but this is a big one. It should have been addressed by now. The...

Florida Open 2025, August 5-10, Orlando, Caribe Royale

Except for those times where it almost kills them. There are almost 13 million green card holders in the U.S. Almost all are going about their lives as usual, including Fedor Gorst. This tells us nothing about what the green card issues were or who/what was at fault. I know we live in a...

Zero issues with WNT today. Good. Still hate the placement on PCs and tablets for the FF and RW buttons. Not to mention the 20-second skip. Way too long on the TV table. Needs to be 10 seconds.

Seems to be a fair number of viewers milling about the matches this afternoon. Background noise louder today than anytime before the semis in Saudi.

Florida Open 2025, August 5-10, Orlando, Caribe Royale

Plenty of dead money, sure. In any case: Among the 60 players ranked 41 to 100, all but three are slated to play in Florida (not including no-shows). Of those 60 players, 53 are foreigners and seven are American. The only three foreign players ranked from 41-100 who are not in Florida are...

Florida Open 2025, August 5-10, Orlando, Caribe Royale

🤦‍♂️ Tourism to the U.S. is down overall, but pool players don't appear to be affected much. The Florida Open has 104 Americans and 152 foreign players. Not much different from the 2024 US Open, which had 89 American players. There's also a sizable contingent of Pinoys in Orlando. They are...

Florida Open 2025, August 5-10, Orlando, Caribe Royale

Seventeen of the top 20 players in the WNT rankings are in the event. And 31 of the top 40. Not sure I'd call it soft. The most notable players missing are Filler, the Ko brothers, and a few Poles such as Maciol and Szewczyk. The middle part of the player roster does seem somewhat softer, though.

Waxing the cue ball? WTF is Kaci talking about now?

I assume some players have waxed balls. Too many people have complained not to think it hasn't happened. I just don't have a clue as to who has done it, or what it would look like. Not unless I waxed balls myself and shot them. As such I think like sjm: All MR can do is try to stop it going...

Waxing the cue ball? WTF is Kaci talking about now?

No idea. But I have seen Niels clean balls like that before. Many other players, too, including Gorst. No matter who they are playing.

Waxing the cue ball? WTF is Kaci talking about now?

Here are my conclusions from these vids speculating on foul play: Pro pool players never think the cue ball is clean. Or clean enough. Aloysius Yapp is particularly convinced the cue ball is never clean. His conviction is greatest when he loses. Pro players outside the Philippines think ever...

Waxing the cue ball? WTF is Kaci talking about now?

Gorst talked more about waxing on his podcast yesterday. He says it has been going on for decades. Players have complained about it for quite some time, but nothing was done. Now it is being addressed, he said. Evidently there are no rules in place against it now, not officially, his partner...

Florida Open 2025, August 5-10, Orlando, Caribe Royale

Other than Filler and the Ko brothers, most of the top 30 to 50 players will be in Florida it appears. Another sizable contingent of Pinoys. The Ko brothers have been a bit scarce this year - Big Ko was not sharp at the WPC. I assume the brothers are playing in the world games and will go to...
